Not sure a player whose attitude is so poor that he could only be bothered to try properly against Chelsea, hence has fallen down the leagues has anything to rub in.
Do you really think that? My take on him was that he was an honest tryer and an okay footballer, just an absolutely terrible finisher.
I imagine he was a nightmare for defenders, he was quick and strong. Gave many a good defender a torrid time but his confidence infront of goal was shot to bits. The first 10 games of that season I really rated him. I remember him playing on the wing once or twice and he was decent, but again as a striker he was awful. He was immense at beating the offside trap aswell... he was just absolutely ******* bastarding wanking shitting twatting appalling at one v ones.
Completely disagree. How on earth do you explain such a phenomenal display as the one against Chelsea? I can't put that down to just a total one off inspired performance. He put himself about and bullied Terry and Carvalho - yet never did that in the league. Only explanation is bone idleness or simply a lack of determination/passion.
He's almost 36, hence has fallen down the leagues. He's no Jacob Mellis he just wasn't quite good enough but did well with limited talent.
He got himself into more one on one situations than any striker I can remember. His timing, pace and awareness were great, he just couldn't finish for toffee.
He fell down the leagues well before he was 36. My opinion is that if he can play that well v Chelsea if he gave half has much effort in the league he'd have done better, and I'm not necessarily referring to goals tally. He was powderpuff despite his huge physique. Amazed at the positive comments on here, but respect people's opinions, and I won't be changing mine.
Fair enough mate, we'll agree to disagree on that one! My verdict - a toiler who showed great flashes, but was too often let down by a lack of finishing ability / confidence.
I wonder if he still thinks about that miss against Cardiff at Wembley. And wasnt he one of their many 'A Trialist' players tonight.
I'm not sure the comments are positive, most seem to e saying that he was **** but that was down to him not having the ability to play in the championship rather than him being lazy.
Sadly, Scott had some off the field issues as far as I'm aware. He also really didn't get on with John Hendrie, as he told me this himself when I ran into him in a pub toilet in Sheffield, as you do. Thoroughly lovely guy though.
