Why would anyone be surprised. NHS is the next cash cow. **** the patients Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Purchases of second homes should be taxed to the hilt and all income on rental property should be taxed at the maximum rate. Would free up so much social housing stock and allow people to get on the property ladder much easier
Can you provide figures for the years preceding that? If possible can you also provide some data that compares the number of houses in receipt of housing benefit prior to an post 2015? Dont get me wrong, housing benefit payments are out of control and need some proper thought into a reasonable cap and control of what exactly is paid out and there are an overwhelming number of unscrupulous landlords but it's a bit of a sensationalist opening post without much substance. But like the tabloid newspaper you ridicule for the same.
This is all I can be arsed to find at this time of night. https://fullfact.org/economy/spending-housing-benefit/ Which paper have I ridiculed?
If you were a hard working bloke who managed to save up enough to buy a second property as a pension income, is that theft?
On the total value of the house. That's a hefty tax bill. An extra £6k on someone buying a £200k property. Then there's also the restriction of tax relief on financing costs that has recently been introduced.
Why do we not have rent control like most other countries? If there was a maximum rent that could be charged then it would reduce the number of landlords ripping off those looking for a place to live.

My post was two sentences with one of the two giving my reasons. By the way I have nothing against people who own second homes or who rent them out. They are doing nothing illegal or even immoral in my opinion
We don't. I've got friends who live in private rented houses (ex council that have been sold on to the aforementioned "investors") where the conditions are terrible and the response from the investors is "move out". The council are totally powerless
Why do we not have season ticket controls? If there was a maximum season ticket price then it would reduce the clubs ripping off those wanting a season ticket. Why do we not have petrol price control? Care Home fees control? etc. The answer is because we live in a (regulated) market economy.
They should move out then. Or assert their rights. A nasty landlord is not someone you should stick with.
