Me too. Though perhaps we may look to the bottom quarter of the division we are in rather than the middle of the division below. Might retain a couple of players beyond half time if we did.
I try and stay positive about the club, but it is getting hard to not think we're heading fot a relegation scrap.
Aye fair point, he didn't make an appearance but wasn't he eligible to play in the play off final? he was signed on 16th May, for some reason l thought he was on the bench at Wembley but he wasn't.
Relegation scrap is inevitable I'm afraid. At best I reckon it will take until at least Christmas for the side to gel. Under Danny we struggled the last time we had such a big turnover and that was at a level markedly below the one we are at now.
How long have you supported Barnsley?......we've always done this, it's nothing new. It's part and parcel of being a Red i'm afraid.
Take that approach to life and you will be a downtrodden loser forever. Things only get better when you question them.
Our comfort years were pre the abolition of the maximum wage. We managed to compete before the introduction of Bosman and Sky. However in the new 'commercial' world we are a small fish swimming with the big boys. On wages we cannot compete, unless we find an owner with more money than sense who wants to go on an ego trip, we have to accept our fate as a yoyo club betwixt Championship and League 1.
Agree with huddersfield red. This is all gs business thats where it ends as history shows we never spend money so wats the point in hsving a gd bank balsnce wen we dont have bums on seats players and team.
Never had that kind of turnover. But we do flog any player who's half decent, we just happen to have had almost a full starting 11 of decent players over the last 18 months or so. I understand we need to sell to try and keep up with the big boys who are paying silly money in both wages and transfer fees. Problem is the fans get bored and stop going and then the club loses what should always be their 1st source of income. Vicious circle, something has to give somewhere.
But the team we have just dismantled was not as good as the team of 1996/7 yet we kept hold of all of those players until we sold Redders in July 1998. Did we not receive any bids for any of those players at that time or was JD better at resisting? We have sold certain players over the years but until the last few years how many players did we sell that we would ideally have wanted to keep? Blanchflower Taylor Hirst Geddis Tiler Currie Beresford (maybe) Robinson Redders Ward Hignett
alan Nixon- Huddersfield offer for Yiadom a long way short of what Barnsley want #barnsleyfc Udders chairman still trying to get him cheap.. The Top hat.. And after we changed the kick off time n'all for em
Would love him to stay but think it's enevitable that he'll leave. After allowing bree winnall roberts hourianne to leave for life changing wages it would be harsh to tell yiadom he's got to stay and then you have an unhappy player who would probably put a transfer request in .Feel sorry for hecky and us fans but can't see any other outcome unfortunately.
I've been following them from the Sixties. We've always sold our better players. It hurts, but it's what we do. What we've always done. Like most Reds, I was devastated in January as I thought we really did have a team that could challenge. Losing the spine of our team was just awful but I knew we would. It's what we do. It's not great for the fans , to lose all that momentum was soul destroying. I can't see things changing after all these years. Sadly, not all fans will buy into what the Club is doing and will give up ! Those are the fans the Club needs to be more concerned about.
