Genius debating point. Open incisive and inclusive. Not divisive counter productive drivel at all. Easy to support when you don't bother going... Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fans Forum
It is allowed but it has definitely been increased 'concern' over the last few years. Maybe rose tinted specs but don't remember the volume of 'concern' when I first joined . Lot less humour - know a few who don't post anymore as they are fed up of the negativity
Yes you're right this isn't a forum for debate its the Barnsley FC Cheerleading Forum and you must never talk about anything negative the club ever does. Big fan of the summer's transfer dealings but I'd love to see MacDonald Bradshaw Isgrove Davies Moncur and Hammill transfer listed for 100k a piece
When negative things happening at the club outweigh positive so will the chat. The only positive at the club currently is Heckingbottom and I'm so angry about the current state of the club because I know the incompetence will eventually outweigh his loyalty and he will go elsewhere. Things need to change now. I am someone that was seen as a happy clapper when LJ was in charge and thats because I will support the club through thick and thin when its out of their control whereas the last 7 months has been an act of self mutilation and was entirely avoidable and while ever people let the club be asset stripped and cheer on regardless it will be.
What tends to happen is a solidifying of positions. Someone posts genuine concern about, I dunno at random, the total lack of Championship quality strikers, and they are met with baseless platitudes about Stefan Payne "coming good". It has no basis in reality, it's nothing but wishful thinking. It spirals from there. Waste o time
What's changed about the club I've supported for 40 years? we've always been asset stripped . Always negativity surrounded the club but it has manifested itself more on here - not just my view. Very disconcerting sometimes you to come on here and read same things from the same people.
I don't get why some people have apparently stopped posting just because other people dont share the same view as them. That's just shying away from debate, which is surely one of the key reasons we all come on here, which makes me question why they joined up in the first place. It'd be boring if we all just nodded along and agreed on everything. It's frustrating as hell that we've sold so many of our better players, I understand the reasons behind it but I can still be pissed off. I'm not going to have a hissy fit if someone disagrees with me or thinks me negative for being frustrated that we've allowed ourselves to be asset stripped. If I held the opposite view, I wouldn't storm off if someone on here said they were unhappy with how the club has handled things since January. I'm really looking forward to the new season and a chance to debate the issues it will bring in the coming months. If debate dies, this board dies.
But it looks to me we are trying to rectify the situation by bringing players in on longer contracts, it could go tits up mind if these players don't make the grade and we're stuck with them. I know folk are voicing concerns over the striker situation but I'll show my backside on the town hall steps if we don't get a couple in before the season starts, if we start the season with the current squad then I'll worry.
Exactly. I doubt if Hecky isn't concerned himself, but the club does have to operate at a sustainable level going forwards & sell players so be it. The fact is until he can get the team to gel (& sign at least 2, ideally 3 strikers & a replacement for Yids), we are likely to struggle. To see that is not to be negative, but simply realistic. I'm looking forward to seeing the new team & realise that some patience is required. It's not a "happy clapper" position, or a "bairning" one, I do not know exactly what to expect, which after a great season up to January last year, is both worrying & exciting.
why is it shying away from the debate? A lot of the posts are repetitive and sometimes overly negative - lot of people post positives and are shot down as being happy clappers. A lot shy away because constant negativity can drag you down with it - as I said this board used to contain a lot of humour. We are no better off than when this board started - What's changed so much about people's attitudes
Please delete my account. Problem solved. A gin and orange, a lemonade, and a scotch and water PLEASE
Although I'm the antithesis of the greater volume of opinions aired on here with my optimism, I've certainly not been the victim of being shouted down for my views, nor been subjected to personal abuse for holding the interpretations I do. Just because some fans hold a different opinion to me shouldn't mean they can't air them. I'm as convinced that my views are an accurate assessment of our club as they are of theirs. If they are going to have restrictions placed upon them, then so should I. Thanks to Gally & Site Admin, this is unlikely to happen
