2-1 Grimsby, another sloppy goal conceded from a corner this pre-season. Why are we always so GOOD in pre-season? Hope we get all the errors out before the opening day.
Friendlies mean absolutely nothing in terms of results. There have been times when we've had good pre seasons and been poor in the league, and vice versa. It's just about match fitness and learning about his players Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Great following today ,above 50% of the attendance , I know that doesn't mean much in sense of actual numbers but it hopefully had a good sense of the enthusiasm of the fans on the new lads.
Agree. For seven hundred plus to attend that game shows the level of commitment of our fans have towards Hecky and these boys. Pecker up. Signings and loans are imminent of that I'm sure. We sold twenty odd goals in the last window. We need to buy some back in now.!
Positives from today's game though. Lindsay won everything in the air and likes to find a pass rather than hoof it up. Difficult to judge based on 60 mins in a friendly, but certainly looks able to fill Robbo's void. Sessi showed some grit in midfield, looked like he wanted to kill someone, a bit like Scowen used to. And Mallon looks an angry little fella with some guts too. McCarthy composed at right back, Yids looked great at left back and will be a big loss obviously, should he move on. And for a bloke whose just played a year of academy (or whatever) football, Isgrove looks exactly the same player we had on loan. Only negative, and this will hopefully be addressed shortly, is Bradshaw as a lone striker. With a strike partner he would be very capable, but he can't do the job on his own up there.
I was impressed with Jacob Brown, when he came on. Romal Palmer showed some good technique too. Not sure Sessi is in the right sport.
If I'm honest, I don't really know whose who with the youngsters and as we made 7 changes in one hit, closely followed by another 3, they didn't even bother announcing them (it'd have taken half an hour to do so) But the one I was impressed with wore number 9, my son reckons he's Jacob (I think) Brown. Certainly put the effort in.
Looked aggressive, like he could give away dangerous free kicks if he was holding. Can't really judge too much on an hour, but I'd see him more attacking myself.
More attacking? He got the ball with an acre of space in front of him and he passed it sideways. No idea, but I'll be surprised (disappointed) if he's in and around the first eleven much this season. Looks a bit like a kid chasing the ball around the playground.
Hecky sez in chron sessi is the only one we've got who can play that role but like you say maybe needs to control his aggression to play that role. Can understand his enthusiasm after last season though.
