What a Champion 6-3, 6-1, 6- 4 A record breaking eighth Singles title. History maker & Without dropping a set. Well done Roger.
Impressive is an understatement. He also showed remarkable sense in realising that he needed to pace himself and deliberately missed the clay courts - his worst surface. Its no coincidence that Murray and Djokovic both dropped out due to injury and Cilic clearly struggled from half way through the first set - though I doubt a fully fit Cilic would have made any difference to the overall result.
He's a gentleman as well. The yank that beat Murray celebrated like he'd won the competition. Totally undignified considering Murray was towing with injury. Federer has similarly won against an injured player. But showed so much more class. Top bloke. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Definitely a contender. 35 in the twilight of his career and still showing everyone how it's done. To win the greatest tournament in the sport without dropping a set is remarkable. It justified his decision to avoid the French Open, even though he's robbed himself the chance to complete the calendar slam.
Greatest sportsman of all time?? Behave thi sen Muhammad Ali Pele Usain Bolt Daley Thompson Tiger Woods Jack Nicklaus Just off top of me head Federer a long long way off My humble opinion like.
Tiger woods???? The wife cheating, wife beating drunkard????? Worst example of a 'sportsman' possible let alone being named amongst those greats. Roger does however top them all. I've got to give it to him despite my heart airways being with Born. .. You're right. .. the top of your head needs removing. .. To put woods in that list takes the p*ss...
Simply my opinion if you disagree fair do's but bizarre? There are many facets to sportsmen and women to understand and then categorise them as great perhaps looking at athletes that have come thru adversity and lack of a privileged upbringing and still excelled at any given sport the paralympics are full of real endeavours and triumph over adversity my first on the list you'll notice is without question a true great striving to be the best when the world arguably dismissed black people out of hand and yet attained greatness allied to a brilliant mind and strength of conscience as I said merely my opinion and my list would be very very long before Roger Federer or any tennis player got on it indeed Martina Navratilova would be higher.
You're absolutely right Tiger Woods is now removed from my list I'll replace him with George Best ....Oh hold on...Shane Warne....no er.....oh bugger it welcome aboard Rog lad
What an athlete the Power is. ! Even won the World title despite pulling a muscle in his head that year when he added up wrong.!
Great sportsman. Tennis, despite the money is still a game where the top pros realise what that phrase means. Football needs to man up in that department. There are of course many exceptions. Defoe, Rio Ferdinand & our own Gus being a few to show that they are more than just recipients of a wage cheque. At 35 a very impressive winner, although injuries undoubtedly helped him this year. Well done Roger.
Both Nadal and Djokovic have compelling arguments for #1, but Federer just edges it. This is probably the golden age of mens tennis.
Agreed. The top four including Murray have been a joy to watch. The last time there was a golden age was borg conners and McEnroe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What about that arm wrestling bloke who's name escapes me, or that table football player, **** me he could hit em.
