Patrick Cryne was quoted some time back that Little Lee's only direct recommendation to sign a player was Conor Wilkinson.
No you're not. You're ramming your uninformed rubbish down people's throats as usual. For goodness sake - just sit back and show a bit of patience. You have NO idea what is going on regarding ongoing transfer deals. None of us have!!
He spent over £11m. To finish 18th. We also have a rebuilding job after the departure of several key players, and so if 18th is "going in the right direction" for Bristol City then it logically follows that if we finish 18th or higher Hecky will have done an amazing job given the difference in budgets. Do you agree?
you talk like we finished a million miles better than them. We really didn't. LJ's got a permanent contract win % of 37 at Bristol. 39% at Barnsley. Heckingbottom's since taking over last summer's 30%. Let's not get carried away.
well to be fair to Hemsie we have brought in only three since the start of the month (one being a loan), and three have left. Now by no means am I a Hemsie supporter far far from that. But its not totally awe inspiring is it. I also do not see any more permanent signings coming I reckon they will all be loans of varying length.
Why are you ignoring the stats from when Hecky took over? His actual win % is 40, better than LJ's and the majority of his games were a league higher. But none of that is relevant to my point anyway. If you class 18th as "going in the right direction" for LJ and Bristol, then surely it would be an even better result for us as we have far less cash to spend. How can you disagree with that?
None of whom were part of the team that Hecky semi-miraculously took to the fringe of the play-offs before having the heart of the team sold from under him (getting us where he did despite humungous budget disparities with most of the rest of this league which is infinitely tougher than League One). By the way, the mass sale is something that may not have happened had 8LJ been half decent at managing a talented group of players. Had he not plummeted us to the bottom of the table then we may well have been able to realise early enough what we had got and sign them up to longer contracts while they still had longer than a year to go. Anyway, Mawson was identified by the recruitment team while Wilson was in charge, at the same time as Scowen. Alfie's friendship with Josh and some BS from Ben were the main factors in him coming to us, fact. Fletcher was obtained due to our then good relations with Man Utd both at Cryne/Watkins level and lower down between our age group coaches and Warren Joyce, then in charge of Man Utd academy. It had very little to do with LJ, again fact, and confirmed in a discussion with Fletch's father (big ex-copper) at Fleetwood. Let's not forget the total dross that LJ was responsible for and LJ's penchant for playing them in feckin ridiculous formations, whilst simultaneously destroying the confidence of players that eventually did take us to the heights, Davies, George Williams, Robbo, Conor H etc. Ladies and gentleman, I give you Joe Rothwell, Nick Townsend, Dan 'performing seal' Crowley, Kadeem 'barn door' Harris and Michael 'the giraffe that couldn't win a header' Smith. I'd make that minus chuffin' gazillion wouldn't you? And that's before the piece de resistance, Conor Wilkinson (who LJ was prepared to make our highest paid player). The only thing LJ ever gets 8/10 from me for is losing games, in fact he was almost perfect at that! Interesting isn't it that despite him moving on to wealthier clubs each time and publicly stating that he wants to bring in players from his previous club, none followed him from Oldham to us and Brownhill, who only played three or four games under LJ here, is the only one who went to Bristol. 'His signings' are clearly not falling over themselves to be re-united with him! Back to your original question, NO, is the answer, though god only knows why I'm responding to someone who barbs a question with a misquote and who thinks a week has two days in it.
So far I have always resisted the urge to reply to your posts, so 1-0 to you Just wanted to comment on how clever you were to use the 'permanent contract' stats. I think your right, managing a team without a permanent contract is completely different and so shouldn't be counted. I think that most of the plebs on here will be too stupid to realise that, well done
I think we can take that quote as being a bit bull ****. PC has consistently said from the time of Danny Wilson that the coach has the final say on any player coming into the club regardless of the new policy being place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One thing that LJ had an immediate impact on was Conor s corner and free kick delivery . We stared scoring from set pieces .
We were scoring from set pieces prior to that. We had won a series of home games 1 nil from corners and continued under Hecky and Burton. It stopped after a few games of LJs 'training'. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
I think theres a difference between coming to the club with a signing and looking at recommendations from the spreadsheet. It is still the managers decision they should take credit/ receive blame for the signings but that is what the quote refers to. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
