The list of oddities goes on and on... (and this includes loan signings)

Otis Khan, Colin Hoyle, Deiniol Graham,
Carl Van Der Velden, Warren Godfrey, Jamie Robinson,
Richard Naylor, Jonathan Walters, Janne Salli,
Ian Hendon, Stuart Rimmer, Don Goodman.

Do you want anymore, cos I can name a boat load of them lol.

Sorry, JD simply backed his manager at the time as you woudl expect him to. Bassett was asked if he wanted to renew De Zeeuw's contract at x rate, which was a payrise and would not have been insignificant, that crafty cockney conman replied "fack im, i've released better'. and then signed Chettle, Tuttle and Brown. The ******.

    Edit: Double post !!

If thats true then Arry De Zeeuw was well within his rights to leave.
And to the comment below, how can you say that about Roger Wylde?

On the positive side, I could never fathom how the heck we got the class footballer that was Paul Futcher for c. £40k I think it was. The only way I could ever explain it to myself was that Derby must've reduced the fee 'cos we took Calvin Plummer off their hands at the same time :)

Thats more like it kid, speak your mind and don't hold back. :D

If we arrange all these players in the order that they were signed, I wonder which of our managers was guilty of signing the most garbage and who peed away the most brass ?

Jim Dobbin was a very good player both for us and then for Grimsby. Kenny Burns was a European Cup winner, and had been one of the best defenders in the country. Roger Wylde scored plenty of goals for us.

Stuart Rimmer was hardly an odd signing. He was one of the most prolific strikers in the lower leagues, and was on plenty of clubs' radars. He just turned out to be inexplicably crap.

Janne Salli was a Finnish international who looked excellent when we first signed him. Finland were no mugs, considering that Jarre Litmanen and Sammi Hyppia were in the same side. Unfortunately he sustained a very serious injury after a few games and never fully recovered.
