My favourite graffiti is outside Red Star Belgrade. It gives you a sense of a very warm welcome awaiting you inside.

Some of the graffiti I've seen has showcased some pretty amazing talent, I'd rather see that than someone writing their name or the name of their "crew" on a wall.

Maybe you ought to be saying that you do not condone such violence. If not then perhaps we ought to be giving your details to the police saying that here's a "person" who would actually instigate vandalism and violence against his fellow man or somebody else's possessions without caring, whose defence would be, well I never had a chance in life, I've a bloody great chip on my shoulder and it's only a train.
Assuming that you are not joking in the replies you have just posted then all I would hope is that if someone came round to your house and trashed it then you would accept their reasoning that "it's only a house."
If you are not joking then heaven help you in all your endeavours. You certainly need it.

Working class doesn't justify vandalism. I am working class and I wouldn't dream of doing that

Gobsmacked that there are people in the world who think like this post implies. Just gobsmacked. I've no intention of engaging, it would obviously be a waste of time, but my God what a terrible, terrible attitude to a criminal act.

I think it's sad and should rightly be punishable I can't however condone mr badger wanting to beat them senseless or prince of fascism demoting some misguided kids to "subhuman scum" and "lower than animals". If you feel that is an outrageous stance what you think of me is pretty irrelevant. I wonder if all those on their high horses in this thread are as disgusted by the Bullingdon Club regularly destroying businesses and vandalising or does your hubris only extend to the poor

How things escalate in your strange little world! I've been called lots of things in my lifetime but I don't recall ever being likened to Hitler and his warped answer for anything that he didn't like. So, and please forgive me if I have this wrong, what you are saying is that if someone comes from a deprived (even working class, as you mentioned) background then their only way to get the world to take notice of them is to destroy something that is not their property and is there for the benefit of many others. Is that what you think?

Where do you think I came from? I don't know your background, or how old you are, but if you have any knowledge of the poor living conditions that were rife in Barnsley in the 50s and 60s then that would give you some idea of my roots. The thing is though that I pulled myself up from the poor environment that I was born in to. I went to Grammar School, I joined the RAF, I made a life for myself. I managed to hold my own in any kind of society that I have been a part of. In short, I grew up and adapted to whatever came my way.

I've never, at any point in my life, felt the need to destroy other people's property or commit any act of pointless vandalism. There are many millions more like me in this country who despise those that do those things. I won't apologise for what I think of those who think it's a good laugh to smash up some vintage railway carriages and I'll call them exactly what I like. That doesn't make me a Nazi though.......

I wish I hadn't bothered now because there won't be an end to it. I'm off out in a minute - it's too nice a day to debate these things with those with closed minds and "it's all Thatcher's/the Tories'/the Landlords'/the bosses' fault. Anything wrong in society - they're to blame.

    All a bit sad really......

I find it quite simple, you act antisocially and that society can cut you off. We should let the little ******** starve.

Good point LD. A bit like tattoo's, there are some that are great works of art, but i wouldn't want one, can't stand the things really. I remember years ago in bank end and worsbro' , the police driving around and asking all us kids if we knew where Kush lived. It was because he'd spray painted his name on just about every surface in the borough, not sure they ever got him though cos we didn't grass (how grown up we were eh!) Think we thought it was cool, how little did we know.

Being working class should have within itself an appreciation of the cost and work involved in creating something of value and merit. To want to destroy or deface it is NOT a characteristic of being working class.
