http://www.gloucestershirelive.co.u...news/new-cheltenham-town-scoreboard-up-103074 Much bigger than our 15" portable and cost hardly anything. Was paid for by the fans
Cheltenham's scoreboard is quite small compared to the big one (15sqm compared to chesterfields 30sqm) but still considerably bigger than ours
As people probably know, I'm a bit of a happy clapper. But on the subject of the scoreboard I have to say the old one was embarrassing and the new one is probably equally so in a different way. Either get a decent one or don't bother.
Mik Mike phenix's wages? Otis Kahn's wages? Jake Charles's wages? Harry whites wages? Kayden Jackson's wages? In fact if I see the words 'striker' and 'development squad' in the same article on the official site I already know it's a waste of money
But £60k for something that would both look good and generate income. Reading the comments from the Cheltenham chairman it's important for them to improve the match day experience. BFC dunt gi' a chuff.
A few statistics and projections from Cheltenham What they charge to advertise on it: Scoreboard sponsor – one season, includes exclusive in-play advertising £10,000 Birthday sponsor £2,000 Goals sponsor £5,000 Corner sponsor £3,000 Team news and substitutes sponsor £3,500 Stats sponsor £2,000 Social media sponsor £2,400 Attendance sponsor £1,200 Buy the scoreboard – four-year sponsor £56,000 And the income: Match profit: £2,227.54 Seasonal revenue: £62,900.00 10-year revenue: £629,000.00 10-year profit: £594,000.00 Now a breakdown of ours. Scoreboard sponsor – one season, includes exclusive in-play advertising £0 Birthday sponsor £0 Goals sponsor £0 Corner sponsor £0 Team news and substitutes sponsor £0 Stats sponsor £0 Social media sponsor £0 Attendance sponsor £0 Buy the scoreboard – four-year sponsor £0 Income: Match profit: £0 Seasonal revenue: £0 10-year revenue: £0 10-year profit: £0 And yet a lot of people tell me that our approach is the more financially sensible. Actually considering an outside team come in to operate it on match days just how much money are we LOSING by having such a poor board?
Why don't you buy it for the club and generate a return on your investment from this fantastic business opportunity as well as helping invest in the club?
Why would a supporter use his own money to fund something for the club? Do you not think it's a poor show if Cheltenham can get themselves a scoreboard which shames ours? You probably don't.
Is your attitude that if you aren't a millionaire then you should shut the **** up and not expect improvement?
To be fair you'd have thought our commercial team would have looked at this wizardry of free money and jumped at the chance. Perhaps they thought, it's just a ******* scoreboard.
