Not bizarre in the slightest - we make money from advertising boards after stating we don't make money from the screen. One makes money one doesn't.

Go to football to watch football - strange concept I know. How did I cope in 70's/80's and 90's without a screen?

Simple question. Do you accept that large screen boards generate revenue for clubs?

If like you say we don't make money on the small one then why would a bigger one?

    This thread in a nutshell

Me: the small board is inadequate and doesn't generate any revenue as advertisers have little interest in advertising on such a small screen. A large screen which captures the audience's attention with videos is proven to generate revenue as advertisers are more likely to want to pay to use it.

You: but the small inadequate one doesn't generate any money. Why would a big one?

You: but advertising board make money.

Me: yes it's possible to make money from two revenue streams.

You: but the small board doesn't make any money. Advertising boards do.

It is possible to generate revenue from more than one source.

    You: I don't watch scoreboards.

Me: I don't like hotdogs but that doesn't stop bfc from selling g them and making money.

You: but the small board doesn't make money.

Me: I know. That's why we should have a big one.

You: why? The small one doesnt make any money.

Is it clear? We lose on the small one so we'd make money on a bigger one by advertising things that people probably aren't looking at.

Not many get into ground before 2:45 - from then on we do match build up - no adverts - can't see us advertising at half time - mainly scores and no one around near the end. Hardly a great marketing strategy.

Majority of big screens tend to just have club related stuff anyway.

You need to stop being so patronizing as well ... I'm far from thick ... not the first time you've tried it either.

This company points out how lucrative our club is for advertising revenue.. http://www.sway.ie/pitchsideledadvertising/

Correction, it's not a company it's an article basically saying Barnsley are missing out on advertising revenue.
