I am awaiting your reply to the original question & I trust your response will not be offensive to any players.
It is actually 10 in 24 in all competitions last season - 7 in 18 league games. I'm sure we can all agree that this is better than the 8 in 28 you have quoted, the 0 in 0 Ugbo has or the 0 in 13 Sinclair has. To be fair it's difficult to compare Sinclair's scoring record to anyone as he doesn't have one. I see you're trying to point score or add weight to your argument by pointing out that I have misspelt his name. My bad. In that sentence you used a noun as an adjective. Ah well. To be fair you've not really explained how I'm contradicting myself but let's just beg to differ.
Season Apps Goals 2014–15[7] 3 0 2015–16[8] 8 1 2016–17[9] 18 7 Career total 29 8 Seems worse than I quoted. Cheers.
So you can't see the obvious progression from him playing three games as a 17 year old three years ago? Ah well. Not up to me help you judge players.
Jerome Terence Sinclair[1] Gls) 2012–2016 Liverpool 2 (0) 2015 → Wigan Athletic (loan) 1 (0) 2016– Watford 5 (0) 2017 → Birmingham City (loan) 5 (0
Progression from a poor 17 year old league one striker, to a poor 18 year old league two striker to a distinctly average 19 year old league two striker. Seems an obvious choice to sign up as a championship striker then.
But if we signed him you'd presumably be retracting that view? This Sinclair chap has not score one league goal. Which in my book makes Mandeville's record a better one. Regardless of the fact that Watford were daft enough to pay £4 million for him
How can someone be a poor striker at 17 when he's already playing Mister's football even though he is not old enough to sign professional forms. Chuff me. You are writing someone off who has barely finished puberty and trying to claim that a 0.42 strike rate is distinctly average for a 19 year old.
I don't particularly find someone who has scored a handful of goals at league two level to be something to get excited about. You and Conan obviously do - which is up to you. Would I support him if we signed him? Course I would - just as I would with any footballer. Getting a bit a bit bored of thread tennis anyway. You and Conan think this Sinclair chap is woeful and that Mandeville is where we should be looking - thats your prerogative. Just as its my prerogative to say lets not write a player off based on a handful of stats. I've said it before and i'll say it again, if they're good enough for Hecky they're good enough for me. I'll leave you two to enjoy each others company.
Laughing, it's just what you've done with Mandeville! What I will say, despite the utter futility, is signing a totally unproven 22 year old from Watford doesn't excite me in the slightest. However, both players in question fit our supposed plan are presumably we'd have more chance of signing Mandeville than Sinclair. It seems to be that the fact Watford spunked £4 million on him means he must be the dogs ********. It's not for us to take all the risk on proving this for Watford or not. Anyhow, like I said, pointless replying, we are at the opposite ends of the spectrum yet want the same things. I'm afraid that despite what no doubt will be Hecky's valiant efforts we will fall short this season.
It was done to point out how utterly useless stats are and to highlight how some posters (in this case Conan) can write off a player (in this case Sinclair) for his stats alone. Then two minutes later support another player (in this case Mandeville) based on their stats. Players play at all different levels at all different ages and 'games played' doesn't always translate into minutes on the pitch. Furthermore goals aren't the be all and end all for a striker. If they set up on average three goals a game for example then I'd happily sign someone who scores 0 goals in a 15 year career (extreme hypothetical example before someone asks me how many assists Sinclair has!) As you say we're different ends of the spectrum and that's the joys of a forum. I said at the beginning, Conan (and anyone else) can post what they want it doesn't really concern me. I have 100% faith in Hecky and only his opinion matters to me. Fingers crossed this season unites us all with what we all want - success on the pitch.
I'm writing a player off - a striker - who has yet to score a single goal. I think that's fair. In fact I'm not actually writing him off. I'm just saying he's not ready to make an impact for us at this stage of his career, and it's not up to us to develop him or decide if he's good enough for Watford. Just out of interest - who did you think was a better striker Emile Heskey or Gary Lineker? I have 100% faith in Hecky. As does Redstar. It's not really about that though.
Without looking I'm sure there are players out there who had a slow first 13 games and then went on to have better goal scoring records than someone who bagged 5 in their first 13 or whatever. So the point you are making is pretty invalid.
There probably are/were. It's not up to Hecky to spend 20,30,40 games finding out for the benefit of another club. I think that point is extremely valid. Heskey or Lineker?
