His interview after the game last night was very worrying to me. His usual spark and enthusiasm was just not there. He spoke of many things being wrong, he even said we had gone backwards. I am now rather concerned about it all. Concerned that we are not gonna hit the ground running and will struggle badly, concerned that we may be quite adrift by Christmas.... but also concerned that one the brightest new young managers may be getting to the point where he might leave to another club who will back his ideals much better. The board need to get their fingers out and soon.
Isn't there already a thread on this. My personal opinion is he will be relishing the challenge and working with the new players he has identified and wanted. With hopefully more to come shortly. Hey ho though. Who knows.
I am not concerned about Hecky and how he sounded in the interview post game, with this group of players and yes some additions we will I am sure be fine, yes there will be bumps in the road but ffs give the guy the club the team a break your constant negativity is not going to help is it?Do you look out of the window on a sunny day and think "we're going to pay for this?"
I didnt think his interview was negative or downbeat or showed any indication that he was losing faith. He tries to answer the questions honestly and what he kept saying was that its a brand new team that hes trying to get to gel and trying to give them enough minutes to compete for a place in the side. Most managers would just say how great the new guys are and how good they are looking, Hecky doesnt do that. He answers honestly and explains his reasons in a down to earth but articulate way. So you could have keith Hill that tells you any old ***** or someone who tells the supporters how it is and how he is trying to remedy the issues he finds or how he builds on the positives. To me thats neither negative or a loss of faith just merely an honest and understanding view of a new team working together
Keith hills analogy of DIY football and poker reminded me just how much I like the fact Hecky just answers questions! Imagine if Hecky had been too enthusiastic after beating Rochdale in pre season!! It's all about fitness and giving players a bit of time together.
I apologise for having an opinion, next time I have an opinion I will run by you so you vet it before posting
another apology for using another Barnsley fan site... I was not aware we are only allowed to use one... please forgive me for this oversight. BTW I have also got 4 E-mail addresses should I cancel some of those too.
Dragon, you are a lucky man having the time to filter all the crap you get in four e-mail addresses. For me I do not have the time. On PH dead sound a trifle downbeat compared to normal, but I wouldn't concern yourself to much. It will all be right on the night.
Sounds to me likes he's set to hand his notice in. And who can blame him?! Constantly being dealt with terrible cards.
I'm not sure how anyone can listen to or watch that interview and conclude he's fed up and about to walk away. He's answering questions the way he always has. Directly and to the point. Pragmatically stating what he liked and what he didn't. It's an honest assessment. And frankly, if you're in football management, you should get used to volatility of working environment.
I'd blame him. He's getting well paid for being in sport. Unless someone comes along and offers him more money, I don't think he'll be turning his back on his contact anytime soon.
Hecky won't just turn his back on us in my opinion but he may be less motivated to stick around if another club come knocking.
I haven't a clue and can't be bothered to listen. He needs to get used to building team after team after team after team though, as that's what every football manager has to do.
