Use a mix. We can't afford to buy Ike but build with him and players like Isgrove, moncur, the lad from luton............
Great post . Time to be realistic guys . Our time has gone , the PL Is out of our reach forever (barring the mythical Billionaire). We are at our optimum level and to be honest now that tier two is basically PL two apart from the gatecrashers like us , Burton , blunts et al I love it . Therefore support our local club the best we can . I always look to see where our old opposition are now . National League , non league , extinct . Is that what you all want by overspending , remember administration , nearly extinct . Here endeth the lesson .
Its all about on the pitch though int it? That's what's so pleasing about seeing us compete at this level, beating teams like Villa, Leeds, Derby, Norwich etc at a game of football while they expect to turn up and batter us because they've more brass. Football shall emerge victorious from the financial madness, and we'll be laughing our nuts off watching as the rich owners get fed up and decide to take their money elsewhere, preferably into female beach volleyball.
I don't see that been a problem. I'm not a mind reader but he's something we don't have and didn't last season. He's a proper striker, unlike Watkins.
Well it's been explained in 800 other threads how we have to live within our means, secure our financial future, not give out massive contracts to 'big name players' but the usual suspects either can't grasp this or choose not to. So what do you want me to put? In fact I'll give it a go. WE CANNOT COMPETE FINANCIALLY WITH AROUND 20 OTHER CLUBS IN THE DIVISION. THEREFORE WE HAVE TO USE THE LOAN MARKET AND LOWER LEAGUES TO OUR ADVANTAGE. WE THEN HAVE TO SELL THESE PLAYERS WHEN THEY WON'T SIGN NEW CONTRACTS AS OTHER CLUBS CAN JUST PAY MORE FOR THEM INSTEAD OF DOING THE INITIAL LEG WORK TO FIND THEM. Happy?
Who is taking about overspending? You've proved the original point though. The dream of playing at the highest level is dead. Some wear that as a badge of honour, others might wonder why bother?
Over £3m since when? Hristov Ward Tinkler Barnard Fjortoft Krizan Over £5m there. After that how much did we spend on Hignett, Sheron, Dyer, Shipperley?
If ever anyone needed convincing it's futile then this post just about confirms it. About as negative as it gets really.
This summer. Like I said, other than the Prem, which is hardly comparable is it, even though it was a while ago. Those 4 players weren't all signed in the same season. £700k, £1.3m, £750k and £750k roughly if memory serves, so about £3.5m in total, but as I say, not the same season.
