Sky reporting that us, Ipswich and QPR are after Bogle as he has been placed on the transfer list and they are wanting £800k.
Max Power also on the transfer list. Wouldn't have minded us going for him if we didn't already have an abundance of central midfielders.
I wonder if he is a disruptive influence .? Seems to be surrounded by controversy wherever he plays. Leeds wanted him when he was at Grimsby but wouldn't pay "silly" money for a player unproved at Championship level. At the time he moved to Wigan the fee was reported as being between £1 to £1.5 million. Apart from the fact they want to get him and the thirteen others they've released off the wage bill to accommodate the loss of income due to relegation, it probably says a lot that a Club who is reportedly in the red are prepared to now let him go for a fee of £800k.
He went for £750k rising to £1m. More the fact there was a lot of suggestion his wages were £15k a week or something daft. I hope he's a good professional and sees out his contract. Sam Morsy too. And anyone else they paid daft wages to in a gamble to stay up. Wigan deserve everything coming their way.
To be fair the wigan manager has simply stated that Bogle doesn't suit their style of play and that's why he's been listed. Whereas Power is the one who has said he wants to leave. No suggestion Bogle has acted unprofessionally at this stage.
Would certainly take him but if QPR are interested they will be able to offer more than we can so we would miss out
The potential signing of Omar Bogle does not excite me at all, but I will go with Hecky"s judgement & I am sure if he thinks he can do a job for us he will make a move for him , getting him might be another matter.
I didn't say he had. In fact I hope he is the consummate professional who goes about his business and stays there for the next 3 years costing Wigan a reported £2.3m plus any associated costs.
Don't think we know the true fee to be honest. He's shown as £744 k on their Transfer market listing. The article in the Star in February says £1 to £1.5 million.! http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/584481/Leeds-transfer-news-Wigan-Grimsby-Omar-Bogle
By suggesting it is professional to see out the contract implies it would be unprofessional to leave. When in reality it appears Wigan want him out. Could actually be considered unprofessional if he refused to leave just to pick up a wage when he's surplus to requirements. And I think the previous post you were replying to was asking if he was a disruptive influence.
Nice to know this place isn't the only forum where folk often get the face on if they don't agree on things.
Fair do's. Not implying he's unprofessional. Or suggesting he should be. Wigan offered him a contract. I think it would be great if he stayed at Wigan for the duration.
Yep, doesn't happen too often these days. I'd be particularly keen he stayed as I don't really fancy him as the solution to our striker crisis!
