From the comments I've been reading from the manager of late, without saying so in as many words, it sounds as though he doesn't personally believe that we have "replaced" our leading marksman. The piece in the Chronicle yesterday claimed that he wants four more signings. Of that number, could two of those four be strikers.? They would probably then compliment what we've already got re- Bradshaw and Ugbo because if he is successful in getting the ones that he wants, he's said that he could be prepared to release both Tuton and Payne. He must think Bradshaw can cut it in the Championship because to my mind if he didn't, he would have at least been hinting that he would be prepared to allow him to move on.?
Bradshaw is the only option. Even if he doesn't rate him he can't allow him to leave with out replacements.
If we sold bradshaw he would get another championship club no problem. Danny ward went to Cardiff for nearly 2 million scored 11 goals 3 assists think he took pens too 323 minutes per goal. Bradshaw got 8 goals 4 assists no pens and a goal every 297 minutes.
Based on last season I don't see Bradshaw as any sort of automatic starter. He would have to improve significantly to warrant a starting place. I like his attitude and work rate but question his ability to regularly score goals at this level.
We play with 2 forwards when we signed Bradshaw we had 1 so can't see how he could possibly be a replacement. Again we are down to one plus Payne and a loanee. We clearly need a replacement for Winnall.
Compared to the alternatives on offer at the present time he is a regular starter imo. Hopefully get a couple more strikers in before bristol though.
I'd sooner you didn't get to many games but stayed positive and supportive. What's the alternative? Going to loads of games and continually swiping at the club you tell others you support? Not much fun or sense in the latter.
What about em? Two lads who've hardly kicked a ball and someone with seven games and no championship goals.
Best tell Hecky to sack them then eh? Conan says they're not worthy of a wage, so we'll just disregard them.
You used to be capable of a debate. Where have I said that and have I said anything factually incorrect?
We never replaced Ashley Ward did we!! Remember in early '99 we had to put up with Don Goodman (loan), Karl Rose, Mike Turner, and eventually Mike Sheron. I know its not easy to find ready made and equally good as replacements, but when it looks like we're going to sell like with Winnall, do we only bother to look round for replacements once the player has been sold ?
You've just said some have hardly kicked a ball. Considering they're professional footballers I'd consider that "factually incorrect"
As I say, professional footballers. I'm all for giving them a chance. If they're all we've got then so be it.
I'd like to think we're looking for replacements constantly. Either from within the squad, on loan or signings. What's not been mentioned in this thread is that we also have midfield players that can score goals, and will doubtless be looking for them to chip in.
