It looks like we're in a relegation scrap at this point. Maybe the next few signings will make us more optimistic, but as it stands there's little to suggest that this will be a strong year.

The past is the past, and I won't go on about contracts and player sales now, but how can we sell Yiadom knowing this?!

There's a decent chance we'll go down with or without Yids, but if he can play a big part in staying up then we have to keep him! Put it this way, if we go down by a few points then this decision will look terrible.
And for the sake of £2m? Keep him and let's actually try to stay in this league: we're at crisis point and can't let him go.

I think crisis point is a bit strong before a balls even been kicked in anger. What if we have a great start, what if we bring in 2 more strikers this week? Lets give the club the chance to get it right before making wild assumptions.

Incomings have been too slow admittedly.
But we are NOT at crisis point.
When the transfer window and the loan window closes only then will we have an idea what the season might bring.
Yiadom or no Yiadom - I'm not bothered either way - as long as there's time to find replacements if he goes.

Can't see why everyone is making Yiadom out to be a world beater myself, the 1st month of last season he played at right back he was awful. Missed 4 weeks with African Nations Cup and weren't missed. Take the money and move on, we've lost better full backs. Agree the timing not right but when do Barnsley ever get anything right, that's why we love them. Still be at every game cheering them on who ever lines up for Barnsley. Have a good season everyone, up the Tarn

I'd sooner sell him and strengthen up front.

You can have the tightest defence in the league but if you can't score you're buggered.

If you're going to lose a player, always better to lose full backs, especially for a few million quid. Clearly better not to lose him....

As for relegation - will have to see. If the last 18 months has taught us anything, it's not to make predictions :)

If you are an emerging talent with the chance to improve your game by playing at a higher level
whilst probably earning more money you are able to earn at your present Club, where better to move to than
    Barnsley.?

If you are one of the top teams in the Premiership, where better to send your young upcoming
talent out on loan to than Barnsley.?

Whether we like it or not , we are now recognised as a " conveyor belt" respected for being able to turn young and in the main raw talent into very capable future Championship/ Premiership players.

Our latest intake , will having seen how well those they have been brought in to replace have done for themselves,
no doubt harbour their own future ambitions. To achieve their ultimate aim they all therefore have to do one thing to become fully recognised and worth a punt by Clubs who can pay them more- play consistently well week in and week out.!

I for one therefore remain optimistic that given time and with hopefully the imminent signing of some " firepower" we will be OK. As I have commented previously I think we might need 5-10 games before they fully adjust to the pace of the league and when that happens I honestly believe we'll have enough.

I genuinely don't think we will be in the relegation mix come the end of the season and I truly believe that if ever it looked like our Championship status was coming under threat, irrespective of what's been said in the past, I would hope Patrick Cryne would see fit to dig even deeper to provide the funds from our cash "reserves" to buy / loan the additional players necessary to avert what after all would be a disaster.!

Firepower or not we look far too weak in all positions to compete. Happy to be wrong obviously

Despite my happy clapperism and worship of the plan I wouldn't be averse to bringing in one or perhaps two experienced heads to help the new, inexperienced lads bed in. Maybe in the role of defensive mid and one up front. However......they need to be players with the right attitude.

    Not at all:
We needed players in ASAP - we haven't got them so that signals a disastrous start to the new season.
The longer it takes to get players in - the worse the start to the season.
Hence - Heckys Rotherham interview regarding the same.

I would have thought we would have had a shed load of continental players at the club - even on trial.
    We haven't - that's a disappointment.

However - in saying that - i think by the end of the loan window we will have a stronger all round squad than what we had in 01/17.
The main question then is this - can Hecky mould them into a winning unit ???

Shouldn't be talking relegation before a ball is kicked with or without Yiadom. I agree we appear to have been slow to sign new players but trust the manager and the Board. I know they are working their socks off to get the right players in.

Agreed. It wasn't a slow recruitment process a few weeks back when we had a flurry of activity.

Quality over quantity is the key.

It is but we are in a situation where we need the quantity of quality

Perhaps it ought to be added that we ought not to be seen as a club which stands in the way of players who want to move on.

So if they can be encouraged to join us in the first place, they know we won't hold them to a long contract when they have excelled, as long as the selling price is right.
