I'm surprised at that snippet. What's it used for then?

Ensuring the future of the club i.e. Replacing the funding the Mr Cryne provides

Patrick has made it clear that we will only be paying wages affordable within the normal income streams of the club - transfer fees are not normal income.

But surely part of the running of a club is paying staff? I wasn't suggesting that all of Yiadom's proposed fee would be earmarked specifically for one player (e.g. Pearson), simply that £2m income would cover a fee of £500k and the wages of that player for 3 years. Are you suggesting that all transfer income is sat in a separate reserve account for use in the event of the club not being able to cover running costs via other income streams?

My reading of Cryne's comments was that total transfer income would not be spent on replacements (i.e. £10m transfer income does not equal £10m spent on replacement players), but the money would be used to support the shortfall running costs of the club, which historically has come directly from Mr Cryne. I've not insider knowledge about this, but that was my interpretation of those comments.

Clearly money is being put aside to cover the running costs of the club in the future. However the fees spent on players like Mcgeehan, Moncur, Mowatt, Pinnock show that the club has been willing to step up the spending levels on transfer fees.

Are you my wife? In her head she saves me £50 by paying £100 for a pair of shoes that were once listed at £150. In my head she's cost me £100.

(Apologies for the trade marked @SuperTyke style analogy)

I have been looking for some time for a quote where Patrick Cryne has categorically said that any
cash from transfers will not be used to fund transfers and I haven't been able to find one.

What I did find was one from Hecky regarding the windfall from the sale of John Stones to Man City.
In it Paul H says that the money will be ploughed back into the Club to help the clubs "cash flow".

As I said in a posting regarding the prospects of relegation, with all the money that's supposedly in the
"reserve " fund I would hope that Patrick Cryne would free some of it up to avert that scenario were it ever to become
    a reality.?

Looks like we could have already splashed circa £2 million so far and with a reported £900k for Mamadou,
£500k for Pearson and circa £1 million for Barrow from Swansea ( if they happen of course) it begs the question where that money might have come from i.e. directly from PC's pocket or the Clubs own income streams.?

If it is the latter, apart from an unknown increase in Season ticket sales, what extra cash could suddenly have come into the Club that we didn't have previously , to allow us to spend what for us are sizeable amounts on any new signings.?

The transfer income may well be used to pay transfer fees, they might well use the £6 million solidarity payment they received last season.

What I've understood from Mr Cryne and I think he said it at the start of last season at the session they did (Patrick, Linton and Hecky) is that increased transfer income won't be used to pay wages levels outside the normal income streams of the club

Doesn't that simply mean we won't be breaking our wage structure just because we've had a windfall?

BFC's normal income streams are those of a 3rd tier club and that's inevitably where we will end up if we stick rigidly to one financial approach (ie transfers don't pay wages). Seems more sensible to use commonsense - wages are just another expense, same as buying players. Probably the only way we will survive is retaining our better performers longer and that means paying at least the top guys more. How else do we build the club? Josh Scowen is a case in point - perhaps the lad who might have stayed with a better offer? Now we need to pay for a replacement, meet his wages, plus take a punt on it working out. How is that a good outcome?

Yes, ergo transfer income won't allow us to pay higher wages.

Ideally we'd sell more season tickets each year, that's what would help us with wages.

    3,000 season tickets @ £300 = £900,000

:) You've added the word 'higher' to your original response. I think we're broadly agreeing here.

Proabably - what I mean is transfer income won't be used to pay wages the club cannot afford from normal income levels - the only question is what is considered normal levels of income - L1, Championship or somewhere in between.

That's a fair point but could a circumstance ever present itself where he ( Patrick Cryne) might change his
mind/policy that was set 12 months ago. After the 4-0 debacle at Rotherham like many of us he heard his Manager go into meltdown about being a 5 a side team and the fact we did not have the squad to compete in the Championship.

Has he thought " hold on here , do I want to lose my best asset in years i.e. Paul Heckingbottom or do I
give him the necessary to recruit better quality players.?" The answer is we don't know of course.

Theresa May has said she's was not intending to do something in the past. At the last count, she's done at least
nineteen U-turns with probably more still to come. As I've said we don't know what PC might or might not do, but
we would hope that with the reserves that have been accumulated, he surely wouldn't stand by and see us relegated
    -would he.?

I don't think relegation would be seen as the disatser that we may see it as. Just my opinion.

In my view some Managers don't welcome relegation on their CV's ( Warnock/Allardyce etc). I personally think that as well as
decreased revenue , we could also lose some of our hard won core support if we went down and Hecky might see his future
elsewhere , if we fail to back his ambition , which would be a real blow.

If all the signings come off, it looks at the moment as though the cost we could be spending could be anywhere between £5.5 to £6 million.

As previously stated, it would be interesting to know where that money is coming from and if PC doesn't support Hecky's
vision to compete in the Championship- Why is he giving permission for such sums to be spent.?

Probably some questions in there for the upcoming CEO's forum.?
