But people are happy to pay £45 a year to listen to post and pre match interviews

It's a joke that fans have to pay to watch the interviews and highlights

Some will say it's value for money but why do fans have to pay for something that should be on every teams website FOC

I wouldn't pay £45 a year to listen to interviews. I pay £45 a year to listen to commentary and watch every match in full a few days later. You can get free highlights of each match, just not extended ones, and there are free interviews available from other places quite regularly. I do agree that those should be published on the website though.

Why should it be free to everyone? There's a lot more to Player/iFollow than interviews by the way. For someone unable to get to matches regularly it is a great way of keeping up with the club's progress, and listening to full match commentaries, AND watching full match replays.

You think all that should be free?

    Should have worded this correctly

I was referring to pre and post match interviews

Why are these not on the official
    Website

Yes I agree full match replays and extended highlights no problem

    It's a joke simple as

I've got a season ticket and go to most away games but to listen to pre and post match interviews I have to pay £45

I agree with what you're saying, but highlights and interviews are available, elsewhere, for free.

I think the main catch about 'player', or whatever it's called nowadays, is the live commentary, for those that can't get to the match.

You can get plenty of post match interviews free from other sources and written up on the website.

Hardly a joke that some are included within the iFollow subscription.

My point is why should we need to go anywhere else other than the official website for interviews ?

It's a difficult subject to get exactly right. In my younger days, if you didn't go to matches you'd no idea what was going on, other than reading the back page of the Chronicle, or the Green 'Un on a Saturday evening. So you had to pay to watch the games to support the club. If you didn't go to the games, you couldn't really feel like a fan no matter how much you claimed to be one.

These days, it's possible to feel like a fan even if you never go anywhere near Oakwell, through the internet, on Facebook, on forums like this, on Twitter, the official site, iFollow - there's loads of outlets. You could watch several interviews and highlights packages for no charge whatsoever if you're prepared to wait. You can see all the goals on TV. If you pay £45 per year you can see extended highlights, full interviews and (as JamDrop says) in many cases full matches. If you live abroad (or mess about with a VPN) you can watch matches live this coming season. You could see most of the action, all the goals and all the backroom information you want. I don't see how anyone should expect all that for free. It just doesn't make financial sense.

I guess they could always play them before a game on the big screen ;)

But on a serious note, we have low ticket prices, now suggesting we shouldn't pay for the extended media coverage of the club including specific commentary, what alternative revenue streams do you propose to offset the loss and cover the increasing salary and transfer fees?

You can get them the 'analog' way free of charge on the site as a read.

Here is this weeks free preview straight off the site

'Paul Heckingbottom sat down with the media at Oakwell this morning to discuss the opening day trip to Bristol

Hecky spoke about the big kick off as well as giving us an update on other issues, including:

    • Injuries to Lloyd Isgrove, Liam Lindsay and Zeki Fryers
    • The speculation about Andy Yiadom's future
    • His hopes for this season and beyond
    • Bristol City on Saturday
    And much more!

Some teams do extended highlights for free, wish we did.

I live in America and with Ifollow it will let me watch all the games live apparently for $140.

Ludicrous that I am able to watch all premier league games and Barnsley games now over here but over there not possible. Something is wrong with that

That being said I'm also happy to buy all the shirts and this as it helps with BFC revenue. Call me stupid but we are a team where every penny helps

Hasn't Whitey mention there is more flexibility with what goes behind the paywall with iFollow so its possible there may be a change in behaviour this season?

I think it's good value for money personally.

I would never pay that. Wouldn't even pay £45 to watch an actual game.

Radio Sheffield have most pre and post match interviews. Not quite the full one, but 15 of the 20 minutes of the pre match ones usually.

I definitely would if you got to watch the games live, but I suppose it might discourage people from going to games.
