Post just been put on owlstalk "Bring hecky in" he grunts "He did wonders with the dingles until the team was torn apart"... trough trough. He'd be daft not to, wouldn't he? If the opportunity presented itself?
deffo couldnt blame him, being the manager at oakwell must be like pi55in in the wind...money has well and truely ****** up the game.you look at what we did 2 seasons ago and to an extent last season ,yet we are now, once again, more or less starting from scratch.proper sad state of affairs.
It's very easy to see there being half a dozen vacancies in the Championship before October is out. It's a near-on certainty that all those clubs will be wealthier than us. You couldn't ever hear a bloke more committed to his home town team. But Hecky has a reputation to protect and a young family to feed. As a club, we need to match his commitment or the inevitable will happen sooner rather than later.
The finances of the game these days are such that Mr Wilson's experience is of little relevance today. One move would make Hecky financially secure for life - at least in the terms of us ordinary mortals.
Great move go to a bigger club and get hounded out if you don't get promotion. He's not daft. He will always look good with us.
Not if we go down with record low points. He's a clever bloke. If he doesn't get what he wants this month (and he wanted Potts so that's 1), and we're cut adrift in first few months he will go to first good job offer. And I would wish him all the best. His career has to come first. Selling Robbo has pulled the rug from under him.
Since January he has had his team ripped apart twice, it's early days after the second occurence, but his scattergun approach to rebuilding won't attract offers from bigger, richer clubs.
Wasn't sold under him. Roberts wanted to stay, but was offered silly money by Birmingham. We simply can't match it. How does it take so long to get into some folks heads.
Believe what you want. Roberts and his Mrs wanted to stay desperately. He was willing to discuss a new contract but the board weren't interested. They wanted the £3m. Read all my posts - I'm far from a doom monger. Probably what some would say overly optimistic. Yes I'm sure Robbo will have got a great deal. But we didn't even try and keep him. How long will that take to get into your head?
And we all know he was offered amazing terms at Birmingham, been told £25k tonight, although I thought it was £15k. The family can say what they want, that money turns heads. Here you are Marc, we pay Hammill £8k. That's your lot.
