Honestly cannot see it happening myself as much as I would like to but according to some twitter rumour pages (Reliable sources I know) Us and Ipswich are battling it out for the Wolves striker Nouha Dicko. Was not clear if it was loan or buy but I would only assume loan deal. Would be a very very good signing should we actually pull it off as he has played a good number of seasons in this league and scored a good amount in that time too. He also offers a lot of pace and power. The lad didn't start at the weekend as they opted for the new striker they have signed who went on to score but Dicko did come on from the bench during the game. I really cant see them allowing him out on loan unless they go out and sign at least one more striker (which they are rumoured to be doing). I would love us to get this lad in but dont think we could afford to buy him out right and a loan could be unlikely at the moment.
I know, I said this in the post............ Pretty sure he won't sign but they are looking at other strikers and if they land one of those he could drop further down the pecking order and maybe just maybe, he could be available on loan
Sorry, only skim read the posts. Just saw his name, and saw that daft twitter site had mentioned him as well. Which has either been wrong every time or announced something once we all know it anyway. Would love him. Quality player. But in my opinion is never ever going to happen.
Would be a great signing but there are question marks over his attitude at Wolves. http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/index.php?threads/time-up-for-dicko.197424/
Lots of mixed views on the lad from Wolves fans, some seem to really rate him where as others seem to slag him off and say he is not up to it and its lazy etc.
I think this may have been brought up on another thread but is there a reason almost every single player we buy plays in either the English or Scottish league? I'm not saying the players we've signed have been bad, not at all. And yes I am aware we were linked with Thiam in France. I'm not a "in the know" poster, I'm aware I could sound totally ignorant on this. But from a complete outside perspective it looks like we don't scout very far.
Am I the only one who thinks it's bonkers that we are in a position that our expectations and ambitions have been so effectively and thoroughly lowered that we are considering 3rd, 4th, 5th choice strikers at other clubs (pretty average clubs at that) in our own division (winnall, dicko) a total coup on loan and beyond unthinkable permanent Before you come back at me about budget who set the budget? At the end of the day this is the league we are in. If I set my budget for rent at £50 a month that's all well and good but I can't be surprised and act like nothing could have been done when I get evicted
But they wouldn't be coming to us if they were 1st or 2nd choice. Most of these clubs have got massive squads. Re the budget, like I said yesterday. Say we set our budget to be higher than Millwall and Burton for example, it will still be way short of what others are paying. If simply "paying a bit more" was the alternative to struggling at this level then the club would be doing it. I'm pretty certain they don't want to be back in league one, losing the solidarity payment, revenue from falling attendances and have an empty away end most Saturdays.
Dicko and Thiam would be an interesting duo. Signing Dicko might even convince Thiam to join us as well. Both French-speaking and all that.
At what level do we set the budget then? That of Wolves? Or Wednesday? Or Derby? etc And when we've set the budget at their levels and stayed up for a couple of years and we're then utterly broke.....what do we do then? There isn't a middle ground. Offering players an extra grand or so a week isn't going to compete with other clubs who can outbid us by 5k and 10k.
Some players just don't work out at their respective clubs, and we might think we'd be able to do better with them. Was anyone particularly enamoured by the signing of Brownhill who couldn't get near an average Preston team? Hourihane looks to be 4th choice CM for Villa but everyone would have him back in a shot. Whose to say there aren't several players sitting on benches at other championship clubs just waiting to be given an opportunity?
Are you mad? I'd take someone who has scored 32 goals in 97 games for Wolves any day. They are trying to move on and get into the play-offs. The players that have took them to 7th, 14th and 15th position in the last 3 seasons will do for me.
Just been reading, he signed a contract extension in January of this year till 2020. So I can only assume that it would be a loan.
Quality player. Missed virtually a full season due to ligament damage. All the Wolves fans I know think he's good enough, they think he needs a run of games. Hopefully we can give him that in return for goals.
