I thought it was Pinnock who lost his man at corner and MacDonald had 2 while Pinnock was just stood there with no one. But I seen people saying it was MacDonalds man and his fault
I've watched the goal back, and I think it's just a combination of being very unlucky and a very tidy finish from the Morecambe player. Pinnock gets unlucky as he turns to follow his man, in that he is blocked off by another Morecambe player. He recovers and blocks the initial header, and the ball bounces straight back to the player who volleys into the postage stamp.
I thought MacDonald, weak as p*ss. Their guy didnt need to do much to block him, liking holding off a toddler.
I must admit, as pleasant a bloke as MacDonald is, I think he has a lot of leaks in his game that need addressing, but I do believe he is capable of becoming a really good player for us. He lacks consistency, which at this level is critical, but we as a team will lack consistency this year also, due to the fact that the players just haven't had long enough together. When we came up, that team had been together for 12+ months, and in some of the lads cases (Roberts being a prime example) the step up from non league to league one is a little easier than non league to Champ. That being said, MacDonald has had some good games for us (moreso than bad ones) so give him time, and he'll develop into a real asset for us.
There's no way Pinnock can be blamed for the first goal. He unluckily collided with a Morecambe player when the cross came in. Some seemed very quick to blame him last night. Angus gave away the penalty for the second and Bradshaw of all people was beaten in the air for the third.
Since I reckon he reacts too late at set pieces, I watched Angus carefully at that corner from the Ponty End. To me he's clearly at fault and just gives up covering as soon as anyone moves. He doesn't even attempt to make any kind of challenge at all. You can put the 2nd goal down to him too - reckless challenge. Hope he improves - I really do - but in my opinion he has been over-hyped, not least because he seems a genuinely nice bloke.
