Well, I reckon it will backfire personally, unless they get promoted. But it's not a gamble I'd be willing to take with us (even if in there position).
Totally, do they get the money back if they don't go up after a certain time. It all seems like a very expensive gamble. Their chairman is a total mug, if they are running close to FFP rules then why do they not try and sell some players that they dont need as they have like 8 strikers........ But no he is trying to ask the fans to dip into their pockets to spend 1000s on this idea
LOL what actually happens when they dont go up this season or next - you've forked out £1500 as a maybe repayable in kind loan to the club for an unspecified number of years. I doubt many people deluded enough to support the fowls would be dumb enough to fall for that one
I think it's a great idea!. This is what comes with foreign owners throwing daft money around and taking the club nowhere. Plan B - lets fleece the fans. Couldn't happen to a better club
Diddums, always said that the Chansiri guy wasn't that rich (in today's footballing world), it's all his Faffer's money. Hope they throw another £20 million at promotion mind and this time a bank won't take pity on them. http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/257728-owls-launch-club-1867-membership/?page=1
I get the feeling their owner is getting reluctant to invest more tuna money and is trying to get the mugs.....sorry, deluded mugs to invest their own money on their inevitable () promotion. And don't forget that when it happens those who have already paid up are guaranteed season tickets in front of the half million that will apply for them......AND they will get first dibs on Champions league matches the following seasons
Very few are going to pledge to this. Basically what's happened is that Wednesday have overspent 'MASSIVELY' in an attempt to get into the Premier League by this season. So now they're trying to pull in season ticket money for future seasons now in order to try and make up the short fall. In essence, if they don't go up this season, they'll end up with a transfer embargo this year or next. Or whatever the punishment for breaching financial fair play is.
...Sounds like the owner was arrogant enough to think he could throw a load of money at it and go up in one season, which takes FFP out of the equation(a la QPR and Bournemouth). Now it(surprise, surprise)hasn't happened he's realised he has made a bollock up and knows the sanctions for failing the FFP criteria will mean it's an even slimmer chance he will be able to get his investment back from the Premier League gravy train... But rather than balancing the books via player trading, he's shown his arrogance and naivety again by asking the Massives deluded fanbase for the best part of £3k each to clean the mess up. It's also comical that he used the parachute payment debacle to justify spending obscene amounts of money and trying to fleece the fans for more to blow... But for me, the biggest thing about this story is that it once again shows how **** these FFP rules are. How the hell can the powers that be think it is in the interests of football to ALLOW any club to lose £39 million over a three year period. It's just crazy...
If I were a sheffield wednesday fan, I would be starting to become concerned.. Simple maths tells us that a good number of the championship big spenders that have gambled on the premier league will end up failing given that there are only 3 slots for promotion each season.
If only their eleventy-seventh choice striker wasn't earning £936,000 per annum, they might not have needed to do this. #massive #enormous #pantagruelic #brobdingnagian
Just been talking to someone who is a man united fan. He pays £3k per season each for himself and his two sons. For that they get the best seats, admission to the captains lounge, all drinks included between 2 hours pre kick off and 2 hours after the final whistle and a 5 course lunch, programme etc etc. He offsets it as a business expense. Says only thing he can't do anything with is the vat element.
Have to say the Man Utd Corporate hospitality experience is absolutely superb. The food is as good as any you'd get in a top restaurant. For the kids they have entertainment/ magicians and depending on the package you're on ,you get a Stadium/ Museum tour, snap and drinks at half time with a former Man Utd player at the table. At some of the bigger games like Chelsea or Arsenal or on European game nights , they also use the restaurant at Lancashire Cricket Clubs Old Trafford complex to cater for any overspill. First time I went we had Norman Whiteside at our table at the cricket ground and second time, United stalwart and European Cup winner David Sadler joined us in the Red Cafe at the ground. He was telling us about Bestie and some of the antics he got up to. A great day out. Only time I didn't enjoy it was when we got thumped 7-0 in our sole Premiership season. No toiling up endless flights of steps to get to where you're going. Plush red carpets everywhere and lifts or escalators to get you to where you're eating. How the other half live.! We can but dream. Pukka Pie and a pint on Saturday.?
I found it quite amusing that one of the comments complaining about parachute payments allowing the relegated prem teams to spend more. I thought they were massive?
