Hecky might walk? All the players baring Davo have so why shouldn't he? After all its his reputation thats on the line over any other member of staff at BFC.
Yes. I probably would if I were him. I presume it's only the emotional ties that have stopped him so far.
Yes I fear it all the time. If it wasnt for his love of the club he would be long gone - any other manager without the ties to the club wouldnt still be here thats for sure
But he knows the plan, buy cheap, sell quick, the clubs run more like a used car lot than a football club at minute, all we've done this summer is restock the forecourt
Must be frustrating we develop lower league players as soon as they get a sniff of a bigger move or more money there off
At the same time I do think he enjoys playing the part of the underdog. Difficult to explain exactly what I mean, but it's the joys of being a Barnsley fan. Hard working folk, with a team of grafters beating the money men. That's what it's all about right?
Possibly but he's also putting his own reputation on the line with some of the decisions he is making. He has to take some responsibility for the 'unbalanced' squad of players and for his team selections. To play players out of position and try and coach out the natural tendencies of players to suit a preferred system is a common coaches mistake, as is leaving out your most experienced player in favour of someone who had enjoyed one training session since signing. He knew Matty James was not going to come back and that Scowen was likely to leave so why pursue attacking midfielders as a priority and then bring in a kid from a premier league club to develop their talent for them. I am losing a little faith as I see recruitment being the main aspect that will define his success or otherwise.....if he is going to play 4-4-2 then he should recruit the right type of players to play it. Naturally everyone will focus on the defence when we are conceding but we are wide open when not in possession and too easy to play against and get at. We will need to score 3 to earn a point unless different players are recruited to play 4-4-2 or he changes the system to suit what he has at his disposal.
I don't think he would walk, but I reckon our useless board will sack him if we are bottom come October.
No, I know but I just don't get the point in starting the opening thread with a lie and trying to exaggerate things for effect.
Who has then? He has said he identifies the players he wants and then it is down to the chief exec to go and get them. Having said that, surely he has to then pick a team and formation that suits the players he has at his disposal and when it is lacking in experience, you don't leave out the one that is. Look, he's done fantastically well, but this doesn't mean he is immune from questioning/criticism
All of the players are signed with the intention of being sold for profit. The problem being that the plan has worked too well. I don't think Hecky would leave due to players being sold, that's been plan all along. I could see him being disgruntled regarding the slow devopment of incoming transfers which have been particularly slow ever since he took over. We've had to rely far too much on late loan deals. Had we signed the 12 players that were outlined prior to the summer by now, I reckon he'd have had no concerns.
We were also told that players would not be sold unless we were satisfied we had an adequate replacement.
