Good luck to the lad. As with many before him, he owes us nothing having helped us achieve a successful finishing position on our first season back in the Championship. But Premier League? Well, we'll see. But this time last year not everyone was convinced he'd hack it in the second tier. Don't get me wrong, I'd warm anybody's bench for 20 grand a week. But I wonder if Huddersfield have done their homework on this one, or whether he'll be another Sammy?
I don't see it myself. A good player. Reliable. Rarely outstanding as a right back lacking a real sense of positioning and muted as an attacking threat when playing left back though better positionally.
I however disagree and think given the opportunity I could see him at a lower premier league team playing regularly. Key being given the opportunity, no margin for error.
Many on here wrote him off after one game against Ipswich doubting he was championship quality and saying the jump.from league 2 was too much. Good luck to him im not sure he will even be 1st choice full back straight away. Good at championship level on his day though the stats don't lie last season he was the best full back in the league.
Tbh the lads done well on playing well for us in 3 months out of a full season. Good luck to the lad.
He'll be a top championship player again next season when Udds are back down and have sold Smith (who is almost as good as Tripps)
Very lucky lad. Thirty three games in the Championship and he looks as though he's now going to get a crack at the Premiership. I'm going to reserve judgement until I see how he fares against some of the best players in the Premiership next season.! Eden Hazard, Raheem Sterling, Alexis Sanchez and Wilfried Zaha are just four of many that spring to mind. Good luck Yids, you'll need it.!
I'm surprised at the lack of opposition to this move. I can imagine there are people at the club laughing their socks off thathe did the Sky interview thereby undermining his standing with reds fans and reducing the backlash. If I were a conspiracy theorist that is, which I'm not. For what it's worth I'd keep him til at least January but not if his heart isnt in it and not if we have properly adequate cover already on the books, eg Pearson. However, not being part of the club I have no real idea about either if those points so I'll trust the judgement of those who do.
This mornings Mirror contains a report on Huddersfield. Wagner saying he will not abandon his attacking principles , even if it means they get a few hammerings.! The article also confirms Yiadoms imminent move and claims that Town have paid £3.5 million for him.! Wagner says it's not unrealistic for them to be in the Premiership and says it's due to them showing ambition. They have shown it's possible for an unfancied Club to get there.
if he starts more than 10 matches int Prem i'd be very surprised. They have some decent fullbacks there already. I suppose the good thing for him is that he can cover more than one position so that may work in his favour.
