You make it out as if there was trouble everywhere. That's just fanciful. I've been watching the reds since 1978 and from 84 to around 92 I hardly ever missed a game home or away. I've hardly ever seen much bother in all that time.
Only the knobheads mate, only the knobheads were doing the same. The majority of local fans were very respectful.
During the late 80s and early 90s us supporters club lads were playing football against Millwall and going for a jar with them afterwards.
I knew what you meant and you're right that some kids / young adults did get a buzz from it. Fortunately most grew out of it but sadly some never change. At the last Sheff United game there was a bloke about the same age as me trying to start a fight with a lad who was about 15 and didn't want anything to do with it. It was down near Gala bingo and the police hadn't seen it so I had to step in to stop this 'hardman' from kicking off with the school kid. I asked him what he thought he was proving and told him that he needed to grow up because quite frankly he was nothing but a bell-end. He squared up to me telling me to mind my own business and that I was going down. I didn't want to fight and fortunately the police had clocked him by this time and dragged him away. I felt I was just doing the right thing but I shouldn't have to step in to stop a kid from getting battered by a middle aged moron who still thinks it's 1983.
Exactly. I just thought it was pathetic and summed up the mentality of these cretins. The kid did nothing wrong at all and was clearly quite scared which gave this moron some kind of perverse buzz. F***ing pond life the lot them.
On the subject of morons at football matches @SuperTyke did you ever get the courtesy of a response from Millwall FC?
Did I balls. They actually completely stopped acknowledging any emails as did the hooligan supporters at the fa
Careful Mario. There's one or two on here who don't like their "fellow man" being called knuckle draggers. I would hate for you to be castigated like I was! Obviously they ARE knuckle dragging, lowlife, pond bottom dwelling scum sucking........etc, etc but we mustn't call the "ickle darlings" that, must we? It's not nice, apparently.
I went to the 1-0 win under Wilson. I suppose part of the issue is caused by the away end backing onto a Sheffield United pub. Kicked off on that corner. Mostly just handbags mind.
The hooliganism thing was just like minded fools doing like minded stuff with each other. A bit like the like minded dickheads in the anti capatalist riots annually. I've never understood why these tweed wearing leftie bellends aren't shot on sight
