Lee Johnson spoke at Athersley Rec in the midst of us struggling in League One. Ben Mansford said at the time 'The manager gets the final say on players' Lee Johnson responded with something along the lines of 'yeah, but I say I want a table and you give me the option of four chairs' Hecky isn't a manager. He's head coach. Responsible for delivering on the pitch with the players the recruitment department identifies. He's definitely involved, 100%, but there's been a few references to Hecky not being happy with the balance of the squad or not getting what he's been promised - that to me says recruitment is not all down to him. It's obviously done us well so far and hopefully that continues but people need to realise that Hecky is not responsible for all the things a manager has been responsible for in the past. Our success requires lots of different departments and areas of the club over achieving/working together.
He's signing the players. He agrees every purchase it's done to him just like all the other Head coaches across Europe.
Not injured, but unfit due to returning from an injury. There we go then, nothing to do with Mourinho not liking him or not wanting to pick him for any other reason
Most Head Coaches across Europe don't have anything to do with transfers. That's why this 'Head Coach' role has been brought in from Europe - club led strategies was the way Ben Mansford described it. It means that when we lose a Head Coach the recruitment, coaching, medical staff are retained & only Head Coach and usually assistants are replaced.
Hahaha. Mourinho stated he needed time to adapt to the premier league. Like Mallan might need time to adapt to the championship.
I think that Mr Dyson is exactly right on this one. Increasingly this is the way that it is within clubs. Have a look at the example of Middlesbrough two seasons ago. The club thought that Jordan Rhodes would be a good investment. Karanka didn't fancy him or think that he would suit their style of play. The fallout meant that Karanka didn't play Rhodes, and nearly left the club in what turned out to be a promotion-winning season. Whether this way of organising is a good way is open to debate, but as Liam says, the goal is some sort of continuity. But clubs are turning to this style of operation. It's no use arguing that Hecky must have had the final say because logic and the surrounding details strongly suggest otherwise. And while we're on, I'd trust Hecky's judgement to the hilt. I am certain that he will do his best with the players brought in - even those that he might not have wanted to take on. But he will quite rightly exercise his own judgement about whether they have developed enough to be included on matchday. In my book, given the constraints he is working under and considering what he has achieved, he is the best manager we have had in my lifetime.
Comments on the St Mirren message board saying waste of talent, better than Charlie Adam & Aaron Mooy. http://www.blackandwhitearmy.com/forums/index.php?/topic/39171-stephen-mallan/&page=28
Hecky seems to give each player roles and duties as basics that they must carry out and if they are not doing their jobs in the matches or training then they don't play - see moncur, Payne , hammill, mowatt - scowen and Watkins also had their stints on the bench. I don't see anything to worry about with mallan and when he's ready he'll play. I don't see what Potts gives but Hecky does and he knows better than me. Hecky couldn't do my job and I couldn't do his so as long as he doesn't come slagging my work off ill leave him be.
The St.Mirren mob seem to be taking an unhealthy interest in our results. Apparently they want us to send Mallan back to them on a season loan. Im ok with that, if they pay us a grand for every game he plays and for every goal he scores for them.
I think they're just interested to see how we get on and what influence their former star player is having on results. It's Barnsley fans taking an interest in Luke Steele's career.
Yes I know why they're doing it, my whole comment did finish with a laughing face after all. And I know we do it when our players who goto other clubs, we take an interest in some of them, but not all of them.
