They were not all sold. There were approximately 60 that were sold on a match by match basis.

Am sure I read somewhere that a small percentage had to be sold each matchday because of some ruling or other.

    The ground holds 23,000.
If we were in the Premeirship then the away end (5000) would be more or less full each match - which reduces the home capacity to 18,000.
We sold out Season Tickets last time - we will sell out 18,000 if we get into the Premeirship again.
As I've repeatedly said on here - the current capacity of the ground isn't big enough for Premeirship football.
Which is great news for any investor into the club - i.e. Room for expansion

I know it's not really comparable, but whenever I start a game of Football manager, I always like to pick a team with a lower fan base, less money, less expectations because I want to feel challenged and when I'm successful it feels good exceeding expectations, I reckon that applies to us.

Been looking through the Sunday papers. Can't find a single reference to our possible
acquisition. All about the Premiership teams. Typical.

Or as somebody has suggested if the ground is not included in the deal, build a new one
somewhere in another part of Tarn. If that were to happen, where would be the best place to
    build it.?

Off donny road between ardsley and darfield, or darfield and goldthorpe.

    Loads of land round there.

Nowt to do with me living in donny and it making it closer for me...

They'll stay at oakwell. The cost of getting it sorted is peanuts compared to siting, planning and building a new stadium.

Liverpool spent millions on research and designs, to end up extending anfield.

That would be me done. Some soulless flat pack off a motorway junction isn't for me.

It would be foolish to either embrace or shun any potential takeover without been furnished with the facts

We haven't even had the takeover confirmed and any money the new owners may have to invest in the club has already been spent by a few on here.
Personally I wouldn't want the ground to be anywhere else other than where it is now - 2 minutes walk from town centre pubs/cafes and transport links.

Until we can look them in the eyes and discern their motives isn't it sensible to remain sceptical? Maybe that are but benevolent and generous people who have fallen in love with BarnsleyFC and just want to spread some of that love. Then again we know so far, we appear to be at least 3rd choice, that these things can go very wrong very quickly and we can find ourselves with transfer embargos, revolving door managers, greedy mercenary players all destroying our club.

Main concern for a club in our position at the moment should a takeover happen is a push for promotion would likely see us on the wrong end of the FFP rules unless some creative accounting happens, like with ground sponsorship if that is still allowed..

Way I see it is that it's sad that if Mr Crynes family don't wish to take on the reigns, he has no real choice but to take somewhat a risk on foreign investment / takeover. We all know the reality of his health and wish him all the best. I'm sure as a fan as well as owner, he is certainly still trying to do the best for the club and it's long term survival.
