Remember when one or two on here we're saying ... mah no big loss, well I give you Moncur and Potts.. QPR fans loving Josh.. http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/...en-Freeman&s=9dee9f8c6c1b4ff4f1f60f117ba83240 And some people think we are not in need of as much help as we can get at this club...#Onitsarsesincechrimbo
We will not pay championship wages. So any player who has a offer from about 20 of the other clubs in this league will not go for us.
Yes I wonder how hard we tried to keep him - not very is my feeling which is strange when we dont seem to have lined up any replacements for that role. All sides need someone to do the donkey work to allow the flair players to flourish
Imho he would have accepted a reasonable offer though (lower than Hammill is on) and it wasn't him who refused to negotiate. Sadly and mystifyingly we must have spent several times over the relatively small sum that it would have cost to keep him on the workshy/dross/unpickable we have for centre of midfield now.
I personally don't think he was happy and wouldn't have accepted our offer even if we matched QPRs. Never looked happy playing.
I've heard he wanted parity with the top earners at the club and that had he been offered the same as Mowett he would have signed, but he wasn't. Can't tell you that is 100% true, only that that's what I've been told.
If this is true then full respect to Scowen for wanting same as Mowatt when in fairness he would have been within his rights to ask for double!
Th The obvious answer is that he wanted to go back south. Perfectly understandable. Plus more money of course.
I got told the same by someone who is usually right. Sad really. Much more expensive to replace him that to offer him pay parity.
He wanted to go back to London. He rejected a new contract with us. Can't blame the club for this one
All he asked for was a 3 year deal. None if the players that left Hourihane Robbo Bree and Scowen wanted to leave. Only wanted 3 year deal. Club directors only offered one year extensions. That s from Robbo himself. Fact.
That is really very sad indeed. I'm sorry but it does show the level of desire at the highest level at the club. "If only...." Well, let's hope that if the takeover goes ahead such depressing facts as you quote become a thing of the past. I love my club but do despair sometimes at the way it appears to be run.
Scowen is the one i'd really have pushed the boat out for. Vastly under rated, absolutely pivotal in a high press, high intensity midfield.
"All he wanted was a 3 year deal" - and a massive pay rise! I don't believe for a second we could have matched the salaries that even a couple of these players are now getting, let alone all 4.
