1. After buying OGC Nice they made the decision to let the current manager, chief exec etc. do 100% of the day to day running while they provided the funds to progress the club and focused on promoting Nice in China. So Hecky should be fine, although our pre-seasons will probably be spent in China. 2. Deals fell through with Hull, Brentford & Boro. No one knows why, whether they pulled out or whether they were rejected. Makes you wonder. 3. Since taking over OGC Nice have risen from 11th in the French Ligue 1 to third and fourth. Past experience of progressing a club, absolutely fantastic! 4. They will 'ensure funds are made available for a tilt at premier league promotion without spending huge amounts of money'. The words before without should be enough for any Reds fan to be positive. Realistic positive ambitions, without being all defeatist for a change!! 5. They signed Mario Balotelli and Wesley Sneidjer on free transfers, with both thought to be on around £100k a week. This suggests we may dip into the free agent market between windows and also shows they have already proved they can pull off their statement on number 4. Plus Championship wages will be peanuts for them!!!
Brentford cost too much and are in debt, Hull don't own their ground and it would cost a fair bit to purchase, Steve Gibson wouldn't sell any of his shares.
One other important point also is that the Lee/Conway faction own 80% of OG Nice, the former owners have retained a 20% share. As previously stated, "our " deal might be on a similar basis. I would imagine if BMBC can get assurances over the ground and the surrounding training facilities, the deal might well be nearing completion in around 3 weeks or so we're being told.
how much do think it would cost to buy Barnsley fc? I would hazard a guess that Mr Cryne would give to Mr Lee at a nominal amount provided all what has been said is true,
I believe that you are right (I thought 6 mill if promoted but the figure isn't that important) he did say that the promoted figure was to cover the money he had invested in the club to cover day to day running. Given the recent transfer intake for the club, do we know if PC has recouped his outlay?
so its either buy Barnsley for 1million for a 80% share or buy Brentford for 25-30 Million for a 50% share, its a no brainer really isn't it
In the time they've owned Nice, what are their accounts like? Have they lost money each season, where has the money for investment come from and what is the balance sheet like, is it solvent, or stacked with debt? That's the important thing for me. I really don't want to see investment that just creates big losses year on year that saddle us with debts that make Crynes investment down the years look miniscule
I would expect to see an annual pre-season tour of China with a game against Nice and a couple of local sides.
One thing that concerns me is this: What happens if it doesn't work out and they decide to cut their losses and sell? It's who THEY decide to sell to them that is the worrying factor for me. Plenty of sharks circulating.
I think the figure will be far higher than those quoted here. Oakwell Holdings control around 31 acres of land, which includes the car parks,Training areas and Stadium. The Council have a duty under LG rules to obtain the best possible price or face sanctions from Central government. I suspect the price for Oakwell Holdings on a Commercial basis will be over £10m.I suggest that in order to lower the price, the South car park will be shortened in order to allow further housing, from Grove St to the existing development. This has been mooted before over 10 years ago,not sure if Outline permission was granted. The value of the football club is based on employee contracts, assets and FL Share. This is the least expensive part of the deal.
The only thing concerning me is that at some stage they will have to deal with the Barnsley Council hierarchy & councillors.
The problem is that time is not on Mr Cryne,s side. You have to trust him to get a good deal for his beloved Barnsley. Our club has not really created interest from genuine buyers Over many years we have had some really good players sold to keep the club afloat. So the way I see it we have nothing to lose. This consortium is buying cheaply a championship club This puts them in the position to develop Barnsley to the Premiership, and then they really are in the money. I see this a lot better than Hecky building teams and then the club knocking the feet from under him. If the club had had the balls to finish what they started we would be pushing for the premier league this year Instead we have a good league one side
