If it were to go through and it lead to five glory years with prem seasons and maybe a few European nights at the end of which our new owners got tired of their new toy and left us broke.

    Would you take it?

If you could have a 24 hour shagathon with Margot Robbie, and at the end of it your knob fell off, would you do it?

I'd try and negotiate 48 hours but settle for 24 minutes to be honest.

Why are the majority of takeover posts negative ones? Stating the worst, most extreme scenario? What about the other extreme end of the scale:

Man City - struggling most seasons, fell to league 1, won nowt for years, took over and are now one of the top teams in Europe, playing in one of the best stadiums in the country and they have the world's best training academy. They're also not bad at winning trophies.

Chelsea - another struggler, stayed up with a last gasp goal from Stein, averaging 15,000 crowds. Took over - one of Europe's top teams, stadium sold out, new stadium on the horizon, dominating English football alongside Man U.

Liverpool are being took to the next level with their foreign owners, stadium expansion, turnover etc.

Glaziers have put Man U back at the top of the Forbes pile after Barca and Real looked to pull away and leave them behind for good. Fans are now warming to them, they have major American sponsors who's money deals, like the NFL wipe the floor with anything our country has to offer. They've done nothing in the Champions league for years but earn more than RM & Barca, they're increasing their popularity over the pond. No doubt a Champions League success isn't too far away.

We're nowt like any of those clubs and never will be, but neither are we Blackburn and the Venkys or any of the other worst case scenarios. The guys not pissing about with Nice

Not expecting owt like that, just want us to be competitive in the Championship and be able to hold on to a good squad, obviously the odd superstar is going to leave but starting every season with almost an entirely new squad is making me a bit tired.

Because to some there is no viable alternative to the current regime running it like a forth division club.

Question for people that only see the worse case scenario.

    Why?

14 years of conditioning where they have been led to believe that this is the only way.

Me: "Shall we go for a walk on Sunday?"
    Wife: "What if it rains?"
Me: "What if it doesn't rain?"

The takeover could go either way. Why not just wait and see what happens and get on with life in the meantime? It's not happened yet, it may not happen at all.

I have to agree. As much as I haven't been one to criticise the club, we need change, otherwise we'll be a local shop for local lower league people, and one season we will go back to league one and be there for a long time.

    This.
Those who automatically adopt a negative stance are simply the same as those who automatically adopt a positive one, opposite sides of the same coin. Neither side appear willing to accept the other side can put forward a constructive argument and steadfastly refuse to acknowledge 'inconvenient', but well presented, factors that goes against their particular stance.
I haven't the foggiest idea whether this takeover will be of great benefit to our club, or be a black day for it. Assuming it does actually take place at all. However, it seems to me there's plenty of folk who are getting themselves entrenched into either a 'No one But Cryne' section against an 'Anyone But Cryne' group.

To go back to operating regularly in league one, or heaven forbid, league two! would be very damaging for the club.

Back to a good portion of our fans deciding it's not for them until things improve, and hardly any away fans turning up.

    Awful thought.

For what the Crynes have done for us I'd like to think they'll be involved in some capacity long term but as ever I'm open minded to a potential takeover. When PC said he wouldn't sell the club to anyone I believe him.I'm sure due diligence will have been taken if this deal is to happen.Any way more short term importance 3 points today will do nicely.

My own view is that the question in itself is neither positive, nor negative and that your judgement is subjective from your point of view. I believe that football is about the pursuit of glory and I'd take five years of glory over a century of mediocrity.
If we did go broke and we had glory in our history we would rise again. Nothing to fear, bring it on.
