My preconceptions are based on the 3 games I've seen him play. I completely accept that he was much improved today and indeed between 50and80mins he played OK
The lad has jumped up 2 leagues and has probably been nervous/lacking confidence coming up against quality players on 2/3 times his wages. He had a decent game today and was possibly given MOM to help boost his confidence. We need to give these players time. Anyone remember last time we were in league 1 ?
Potts has been poor before today for me, but he's made a big step up and we should all be willing to give him a good dozen games before we make a judgement on him. Today he was much better and on a par with the rest of the team barring Hammill who was again outstanding. Keep it up Brad!
I'll go along with that if it gives his confidence a boost . But MOTM is MOTM imo not guess who they gonna give it to , Although he'll not say it I'll bet Hammill will be thinking what do I have to go to get it after I put a performance in like that. Whilst boosting players confidence we must also be cautious if upsetting others.
I've stood and sat with my mate for about 45 years watching Barnsley and he's the type who has to have a boo boy.Phil Chambers,Nickey Eaden just to name a couple. His new boo boy now is Potts. It started in the first couple of minutes when he made a weak pass. That one poor pass will now be with him for the rest of his Barnsley career because my mate will never forget it.He almost gave Potts a round of applause until he realised who it was and he quickly folded his arms.Lets not forget the role Potts is playing is new to him and in fairness he stuck to his task and had a very decent game.A quick word on Hammill,I thought he was superb today and he would have been my man of the match. The afore mentioned mate of mine knows a bloke in his local WMC who cannot stand Hammill no matter who well he plays he just doesn't rate him.Funny old game as someone once said.
You have a low opinion of Hammill if you think he'll mope about not getting motm, be upset and have it affect his performances.
Agreed but Potts is a new player who I think would have benefited greatly from that backing today. Hammill doesn't seem to lack confidence and has his name sung every game and he knows he is loved by the fans. He went off to a standing ovation today as he was magnificent
Yeah I get that . My point is not that Hammil will have monk on I was just using as a point in progress.
Brad Potts is still transitioning and like all the other new signings it will take time. Patience is key. For them on here who are quick to damn and not give the group time to develop then you really should go shopping on Saturdays instead. Pottsy had a good game today and is improving game by game. He's wearing a red shirt and the lad is putting in the effort so that's OK by me. I also trust our manager to get on with it because he really does know what he's doing.
When he picks ball up and runs he looks unstoppable at times.Think he lacks concentration aswell but definitely can see a player there.
Exactly. He was terrific - but we still have these negative down and out posters on here. It's foooking ridiculous!!! Mark my words on this - Potts has a thunderous shot - and when he gets a bit more confidence - then expect some spectacular goals from him.
Some of hammils touches were sublime today really loved that back heel flick to macarthy on half way line 2nd half.Absolute class
