I can never get my head round fans who boo their own players.! They need to look up the word "supporter " in the dictionary. The player is trying to do what his manager has instructed him to do and the opposition is trying to stop him.....simple as. If fans would only realised how hard it is, they just might change their tune.
Been very vocal and critical of Potts. Nothing personal just thought he lacked effort and was behind play. Wasn't there today as on holiday but listened on radio and heard his reviews sounds like he did brilliantly. Well done Brad. Hopefully just the start & you go from strength to strength! Always happy for players to prove me wrong and show how little I know about football!!
Potts got stuck in, won headers, broke up play and drove forward from midfield. What's wrong with folk, give the lad a bit of praise and credit where it's due and let's hope that today is the first of many good performances in a Reds shirt.
You`ve given yer opinion of him match by match and gave him credit today like a lot of folk, so why the need for the told you so brigade gerrin on at others baffles me.
My first game of the season today. Potts performance today was just how I remember him playing against us in those two cup matches. Positive and direct, thought he was excellent. Hammill outstanding. And other than a missed header and that early mishit that Davies saved, I was impressed by Jackson too.
Potts is the first player I've seen for us in a while who is big and strong, but also prepared to run with the ball from midfield in central areas. He isn't the finished product but today he was part of the midfield that won us the game. Moncur was anonymous first half but put a shift in second half. I thought everybody put it all in and we got what we deserved as a result. Hammill was my motm but Potts was my second choice and not far behind. Potts won it though, and it's a text/twitter vote; he must have impressed the majority.
I thought Potts was good not motm but good he's like Forest Gump he takes some getting going but once he starts running there's no stopping him . My motm was Williams. UTR
I think there should be boards under every seat with every squad number on and when we get scoorboord working, at a certain time determined by club, everybody puts number of their chosen MOTM up and ball boys count em up. It's the only democratic and sure way of finding out who the majority wants as MOTM But it'll never happen wi that scoorboord.
My vote went to Potts. Great effort, 100% commitment, easy MotM for me, although I have to say that the entire team never gave up today.
Williams was another who had a wonderful game, as he did against Forest. A fair few were calling for him to be dropped after the Blunts debacle but I'm glad that PH stuck to his guns. Williams has all the attributes to be a top drawer midfielder and an asset to this team.
If we ever needed proof that some folk have to find a negative and moan no matter what then this thread provides it. Jesus wept.
For me Williams was MOM. Outstanding. Won almost everything and broke it up almost every time Sunderland went forward. Almost like Matty James. Potts was great too. It's great to see such a turnaround in a few games. He was in danger of becoming the latest scapegoat. People need to remember it's such a big step up for him to make and he's done it well so far with more to come
