Definitely a ball winner in midfield. Williams was excellent on Saturday but completely bullied out of it against the Blunts last week. We don't seem to have a back up to his role at the moment.
If we fail in our attempts to fetch someone in I'd maybe look at Pearson as a bit of an enforcer, the lad is built like a house End and he's partial to a nice pass too
Go with what we have. Having too many players brings its own problems. Agree with the shout on Pearson - worth looking at in other positions.
I think we have enough we still have mcgheen cavare and isgrove to come back from injury. I thought williams was shocking v sheffield united but Saturday he was my mom. Broke up attacks, got tackles in always showed for the ball and turned defence into attack quick. I suppose him been young and his 1st few ganes at this level he will have off days like he did bramall lane. But like said Pearson or pinnock can play this position too.
With mcgheehan Potts Moncur Williams Pearson if he adapts and possibly mowatt mallan kay and bird if they progress looks enough to me to rotate to keep the energy to all fight for the central 3 positions. Wingers with hedges Barnes isgrove and hammill looks strong. Forwards and defence there is also a case for being there with cavare and Thiam to come in on top of what we have.
Before we kicked a ball, Young Nudger wanted 6 wingers, has he had written off Hammil & Hedges, I wonder if his opinion is still the same.
Hecky wanted 2 players for every position. So- GK - Davies & Townsend Full back - McCarthy, Cavare, Pearson & Fryers Centre back - Angus, Jackson, Pinnock & Lindsay Wingers - Hammill, Hedges, Barnes & Isgrove Holding role - Williams Central midfield - Moncur, Potts, Mallan, McGeehan, Mowatt Up front - Bradshaw, Ugbo & Thiam So I think I agree with Hecky who according to media is chasing a different type of striker in McBurnie & another holding player to compete with Williams in Gardner. I think there the only two spots we need players in
If what people say is true and Pearson is best played as a cdm, then I'd be happy with getting a proper left footed left back and a striker (which we all know will be McBurnie)
Only position I'd like to see strengthened is the holding role/Defensive midfielder. Ideally an experienced player who can take some of the burden off young Williams. The lad played brilliantly on Saturday. Really impressive. But the 3 CMs must be shattered with the closing down and will need some rest when games come Tue/Sat all through September. If we sign Oli McBurnie I hope fans aren't expecting a big, strong target man. He definitely isn't that type of player according to Swansea fans. He's quite lanky, but is more an in the box finisher. Although with Thiam, Bradshaw, Ugbo and Brown not sure a striker is priority unless Hecky still intends to play 4-4-2 in some games.
