It's been said that some appalling Derby fans have had a go at Sharp this weekend, over the loss of his dear little son a number of years ago. Remember it was suggested that a section of our fans also did the same when it happened, and Sharp has always raised his game against us and seems to enjoy rubbing our noses in it each time. If it's true that some of ours did that, then they are a disgrace and Sharp has every reason for wanting to turn us over!. :O
Ha! Some of our fans are our own worst enemy with this type of thing. Game kicks off, cue the singling out for personal abuse. Result? Abused player scores and duly rubs it in with gusto! You could put money on it.
I thought it came out that it wasn't true about our fans. It was some gobshite making things up and trying to cause trouble. I'm not certain at all but wasn't it all made worse by a Leeds fan on Facebook who was something to do with bouncy castles?
This was discussed on here when it happened when we played Donny. Many who were there including myself never heard any such chanting. However, a poster on here said he heard 1 person shout something at Sharpe and apparrently this person was told off by a number of our fans at the time.
Can you please use documentary evidence when making such statements please. "It's been said" proves eff all.
That's all it is by the way, I'm only suggesting it because of what they were accused of at the time. (and bear in mind when any fan of ours gets accused of this, we ALL get tarred with it) No I don't remember anything ever being 'proved' about it at the time, but how many times was Sharp's name mentioned with us. Not only did he give us the middle finger each time, he's scored against us in most games and hes given it to our fans every time when doing so. Genuine rivalry, or genuine dislike towards us for that reason which has been suggested ?.
Whether it happened or it didn't he plays against us like he thinks it did and that's what's important.
Some were singing it this season after Sharp's goal. It was captured on a Barnsley fan's vlog and some Blunts fans raised it on Twitter. The vlogger has since edited it out, disabled YouTube comments and attempted to blur out one of the culprits stood next to him.
It did happen but it was just one lad who was about 16 year old. He was in the corner near towards the donny fans... the crowd wa silent then they got a throw in near the corner flag when the young lad shouted "where's your baby gone". I, amongst many others turned around and gave him a right bollocking. It's one one the most disgusting things I've ever heard anyone say. The young lad ended up moving a few minutes later, I know a few informed the steward so I'm not sure if he got booted out or not. I don't have a child, but losing a child must be the most heartbreaking experience anyone could ever go through. Banters banter but for God sake that young lad should still be deeply ashamed of what he said. ******* vile, and it's something i have never forgotten. The pure heartbreak Billy Sharp and his wife must have gone through is unimaginable. Fair play to Sharp aswell who played 2 days after his baby's death, that must take some real strength.
And why on earth would this be less relevant or less disgraceful today then, even if it is after all these years ?.
I was there that day and didn't hear anything untoward regarding young sharp rip . All I heard was the usual good banter between bfc fans and BS which he took in good part and gave back in good humour . Unfortunately the "twelve ? year old kid who reportedly did the chanting and as you say was quickly admonished made the Express thru Norwich City fan Mick Dennis who villIfield bfc fans in general . I wonder whether the club ever took legal action against Dennis ?
is that true then. i dont give a shoite about the blunts as a club and as a set of fans, but i bet this is something that they will keep accusing us of when the subject comes up.
One person disgraced the club, it was made out to be much more on social media - it was not good for the club and it began to snowball. Best thing to do is to bring it up years after....
I was at Doncaster on that particular night. I can assure you that the chants came from a couple of Barnsley idiots at the back corner of the stand and they were soon silenced by other fans, disgusted at what they were chanting. They received short shrift. Afterwards the media got hold of it and built it up into something that never was. Billy Sharp was interviewed on it and the media ensured he knew what the Barnsley fans had been chanting (they didn't point out that it was only a couple and that they had been silenced by fellow Barnsley fans ! ) There were indeed rumours at the time that it was a Leeds fan who initiated it and let the media know. They carried the story for months and the Club's reputation, because of these morons , took a battering.
