Read on Sunderland forum that we are only selling 4600 tickets for the North Stand this year due to restricted views at the back ... is this true?
I don't know about the reason but despite having the entire stand Sunderland did only receive an allocation of 4600
Sunderland asked for 3,000 tickets initially, then after selling those they requested another 1,200 or so beginning of last week.
There was an article on their website saying they had an allocation of 4600 a couple of weeks ago though?
It's not fit for purpose. The reduced allocation is on H&S grounds, the stand has got be cleared within 3 minutes and it has been decided that 4600 is the number they can comfortably evacuate inside 3 minutes.
is this actually true? as stated above it would seem there's a few issues about a "3 minute" rule in other stands, id actually think the north stand could get everyone out within 3 mins as it has direct pitch access which would help immeasurably. as for Sunderland i was going to ask about the 4600. it seems thats the max allocation all season and was wondering if its BFC or SYP / Council Safety that has imposed a limit?
It's come from someone high up in Doyles match day management team, so I have no reason to doubt him. I remember Sunderland bringing well over 5000 a few years ago but 4600 was the maximum they were allowed this year. Long gone are the days of Leeds bringing 6-7k based on what I was told
Fairly sure Sunderland evacuated it in less than 2 minutes straight after Judd had shut them up Satdi.
no worries cheers, in that case however our pricing structure designed to fleece as many away fans as possible is even more bonkers than it first seemed!
I heard it was because the concourses where unable to accommodate the amount of people in the stand if full. Maybe ****** though
It can hold around 5,800 as it did against one or two clubs last season. Newcastle being one. Sunderland had as many as they asked for. They were never selling out. They'd only sold 4,200 close of play Friday. BBS loves a good myth though.
Newcastle got 5500 last season YT, and they sold out in under one week. That's been the biggest allocation since, Leeds got chopped to 5300, then Sheff Wed was the start of this 4600 total, and they sold out. Sunderland put on the website (from the off) numerous times that they had a total allocation of 4600. If it's true that it's back up to 5800 again this season, then Leeds will be the test as they will sell out easily. Villa might fetch more than the 4000 they did last season as that was a night game, although it's on sky this season. They have gone on sale today and it's stated 3500 initial allocation on the website today. We are throwing money away if we don't offer at least 5500, we have had 6000 and at least 5800 in it for years, so 5500 should be the absolute minimum! Other grounds are crammed in way more than this, in the stand and in the concourse underneath, Leppings lane down the road for one is terrible!!
