..nothing to do before work so what's needed in the last few days? (Yes this thread has been done already but I can't find it)

GK; Davies, Townsend (on his way out? New back up 'keeper potentially to come in).

    RB; McCarthy, Cavare.

    CB; MacDonald, Lindsay, Jackson, Pinnock.

LB; Pearson, Fryers, Yiadom (on his way out potentially).

    RW; Hammill, Isgrove.

DM; Williams, definitely one more needed, wouldn't mind Jason Lowe.

CM/AM; Moncur, Potts, McGeehan, Mallan, Mowatt (on his way out potentially).

    LW; Barnes, Isgrove, Hedges.

    ST; Bradshaw, Ugbo, Thiam, McBurnie.

Not forgetting a couple of the young lads breaking through - Bird, Kay and Brown.

Definitely need another enforcer in midfield to compensate for an injury to Williams and maybe a new back-up 'keeper?

Hecky wanted a squad of 22; 2 for every position and I don't think he's far off that now.

If he's going to keep playing 4-5-1 we'll have 4 forwards for one place up front. That won't last for long if only one of them's starting and one or two are coming on for a short stretch as subs.

I think we'll see the return of 4-4-2 after the break.

Well I hope so. I can't see the midfielders going for too long without getting injuries and strains and I can't see two of Ugbo, Thiam and Bradshaw being happy on the bench most matches.

I don't think we'll see much more, than a striker and central midfielder, come in, unless somebody else leaves.

I think we are in a decent position at the moment, if we strengthen its a bonus & if we don"t its not the end of the world. I guess , a lot might depend on weather there are any imminent departures in the next 48 hrs

I'd be happy to see Brown get more senior game time. He's the same age as Ugbo, yes in a different U23 league but more than capable of playing against the bottom end championship clubs.

Imho it would be verging on the negligent to not sign a left-back given we have none fit and the only regular one we have averages six games a season.

Just reckoned up earlier, if McBurnie comes in, ten of our players have been registered with Premiership clubs
at some point in their career. We look to have improved the basic quality of our recruitment targets.
Quite a number also have played at various levels for their respective National teams.

I reckon it'd be at least 15, or 17, if you include Ligue 1. (I'm not counting the Sweaty's Premier League as a top level league :D)

    Obvious ones:-

    McCarthy
    Fryers
    Williams
    Hammill
    Isgrave
    Barnes
    Jackson
    Ugbo
    Hedges

    McBurnie

    Less obvious ones:-

McGeehan (Was at Chelsea and Norwich when they were in the Prem)
Moncur (Was at Spurs and West Ham)
Mowatt (Was at L***s as long ago as they were in the Prem)
Macdonald (Was at Reading when they were in the Prem in 2012/13)
Pearson (Was at Blackburn in 2011 when they were in the Prem)

    Ligue 1:-

    Thiam
    Cavare

I'd forgotten that Davies started his career at Everton as well.

Yeah, true. Probably because he came to us from a massively forgettable club....

As I posted earlier in the week - in theory the new crop of players should in time be better than those that have recently been sold.
The old crop basically came from lower league and cost nowt - while these new players, although coming from lower leagues, many of them have cost between £500k to £1million.

Next few days might give an indication of how close the takeover deal is.

If we get one or more signings that shows a bit more ambition at the club - e.g. comments on here saying things like 'bloody hell I didn't know we were in for him, that's a reight signing for the club' - then this might indicate some assistance has been given.

If we don't - then probably the deal is further away than what most of us hoped for.

Simplistic view Nudge, I don't think there will be any connection. I heard the deal is very close. Exciting times ahead.

If you were the new owner - and the deal was just a matter of solicitors sorting the paperwork out - then wouldn't you be talking to the manager and asking 'let me know if I can help, we need to ensure we maintain Championship football this season'.

    I know I would.

What's the point of obtaining a Championship club only to find you didn't get in there quick enough and it's now heading for Division 1?

Because it's not his club until the contracts are signed. Too many variables here to assume anything.
