I was disappointed with these two in opening few games. However wasn't there on Saturday and just watched the match back on ifollow. Absolutely brilliant performance from both of them. Moncurs workrate.... watching it on telly made me realise just how much he puts in. Chases down absolutely everything. Massively impressed. Added to some brilliant one touch passing & his goal I think that was a top class performance. Potts really drove the team forward, put a shift in, and looked great. Few misplaced passes but if he builds on that he'll be a hell of a player by the end of this season. Well done to both of them. will thoroughly enjoy watching the pair of them prove just how little I know about football as they continue to develop, learn and improve. Great service to be able to watch the full match replays too. Gives a really different perspective on the match to live or highlight packages. Just wish it had commentary to enjoy the full experience (assume there isn't a way to turn it on).
Yeah both had really good games, moncur took his goal really well and enjoyed the celebration too. Not sure the Sunderland fans did let's hope it continues.
I think there was a lot of panic about the midfield after the performance at Sheffield but against Sunderland we proved we can cut it at this level, We matched them in skill energy and work rate. Its going to be up and down throughout the season I'm sure but this new crop of talented players we've brought in are on the way to becoming new heroes following in the footsteps of Connor Sam and alfie... Hecky is some manager/Coach to be able to keep getting these young lads playing levels above what they are used to.
Aye, cracking finish that. Watched it back a few times! Ugbo did brilliantly rolling his man to create it to. Something else I noticed watching it was that the misconception that our players are unfit as a few are breathing heavily/hands on knees after 30 minutes - I'm not bloody surprised. They press at such speed. Sprinting at their man. Hammill and Moncur especially. The work rate was twice that of Sunderland. Not surprised they were breathing heavily as it's a completely different exhaustion from explosive runs like they did over and over again. The fact they were still doing it after 70/80 minutes shows that they are incredibly fit. Also - Liam Lindsey. Very good debut I thought. Seen someone knocking him a bit, but watching it back he looked great (bar the yellow card incident which is hardly a cardinal sin). He's a proper player. Beast in the air, great on the deck. & with ball at his feet. And Adam Jackson showing great signs now he's getting a few games. Really promising signs.
Potts looks very strong driving forward. I was very impressed after watching him against Ipswich. Jumping two leagues and putting a performance like that against Sunderland perhaps shows why Hecky was so keen to bring him in. Interesting he's being played as a CM though when he was touted as a winger and we were all under the impression we were signing, primarily, a winger. But I guess that's why Heckys got the job and not me
Aye, if they keep on playing like that we might make a bit of money when they go to Villa in January. Just kidding. Maybe...
Yep, I saw the game on iplayer too. Thought Potts was superb. Also Moncur, Williams, Jackson. They all played really well. I'd say Pearson's distribution is a bit dodgy at the minute but that can be worked on. And Adam Hammill. It's great to see him back playing well, influencing the game and being a vital part of the team.
I think moncur did well against forest before satdi but potts has had a shocker every game up until Sunderland @ home... well played satdi monkz and pottsy
I love Moncur, I was buzzing when we signed him. I dont understand why some say that he is lazy? The ground he covers is unreal and he's lethal from 25 yards.
I hope the original post is a wind up. Moncur is shocking and Potts, well, less said the better. I'd play Mowatt just so we can actually beat the first man on a corner/free kick.
Thought Potts had a great game on Saturday and Moncur worked hard and scored a stunning goal out of nothing.
So would I - by far the best crosser we have since the departure of Conor - Moncurs corners were poor on Saturday but other than that I thought he played well
Moncur is an empty shirt. Does nothing going either forward or backwards. At least Potts gets himself involved but I just cant see him being anywhere near good enough. I'd actually take Stephen Dawson back right now.
Continue your happy clapping because we've just beat a shocking Sunderland side and actually got quite lucky about it if you like.
No Ive got to say I thought it was two very bad teams, one of whom got the first goal while the other capitulated after it.
