First time Ive been on here in a long time and I'm actually gobsmacked that even the happy clappers are happy with these two in midfield

Think you'll find my post was about how I hadn't been impressed with either to date.

But having watched the match on ifollow I was very impressed with them. They, along with Williams, made a midfield with Cattermole and Ndong look like amateurs.

But crack on if you think that's happy clapping.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that is a truley awful assesment of our performance on Saturday and of one of our best players.

I'd watch the game back if I were you, Sunderland were quite easily the better side until we scored. They then gave in and we could have had 3 or 4 before half time.

There wont be a performance as poor as Sunderlands at Oakwell again this season, anyone who's not worrying just because we turned them over needs a reality check.

We defended well, scored 3 goals and kept a clean sheet. Im not geting carried away or excited or anything here. Despite how poor Sunderland were, our performance deserves more credit and it certainly has shown me we have more than enough to stay in this division, and I would like to think the vast majority of fans would agree.

I don't very often lose the will to live, but after reading that I've decided that there's really no point to life any more.

The way lads playing for the first time at this level get written off after 2 or 3 games is truly astounding. Make a judgement sometime after January. Personally I think we'll be ok if they're given time. The danger comes if they get into a losing run and their confidence disappears. Or we could just run them down on here and slag them off at the game and attempt to destroy their confidence that way.

True Sunderland looked quite good until we scored but they didnt create anything and our defence wasnt really troubled we already looked dangerous and had a fairly blatant pen turned down by the time we scored. Once we got the second it was game over. Based on what I saw last season we will play other teams as bad as Sunderland at home this season.

I think you are being unfair on Moncur - I am not a great fan of his but he did chase all over the pitch on Saturday and bust a gut to get up to receive the pass from Ugbo to score a well taken goal from a difficult chance.

Same for Potts - he had been poor so far but had a pretty good game on Saturday - not sure how he got MotM but I'd have put him second behind Hammill.

Also dont forget we could have had 4 against Ipswich before half time in the first home game in which case I doubt they would have come back at us.

For a new team with many playing at this level for the first time I am OK with the results so far. True there is no room for complacency and we need to improve but signs are there that we can

It's acknowledged that everyone is entitled to a say and that we all view things differently. From what we saw on
Saturday and from the match reports in all the newspapers we've read since, I think we would agree that for
the first twenty minutes we were grateful that the Sunderland players didn't seem to know where our goal was
and after Ike rolled the first in and Harvey volleyed the second, there was only going to be one outcome.?

To my mind at this stage, points are more important than performances. In any situation where people are
brought together and are expected to perform at the highest level e.g orchestra, band, theatre cast, football team,
it takes patience and time practicing and playing together as a unit before the optimum levels are reached.

In being critical, we have to take into consideration the length of time our squad have had together.
McCarthy, Lindsay and Pinnock were signed in June and Williams was brought in on the 20th July .
Potts had been at the Club a mere 23 days, Pearson 22 days, Barnes and Thiam 16 days, when they all featured
    in Saturdays squad.

Potts for me is work in progress. There is no doubt the basic talent is there. Same with Moncur. He just needs
to recognise that he will have a lot of responsibilities this season orchestrating play from midfield and perform accordingly.
I personally can't wait to see Potts, Moncur and McGeehan in the same line up. Lindsay is going to be a big player
for us this term and I hold high hopes for Isgrove, Fryers, Cavare and Thiam.

It's going to take time for them all to blend together, but I believe when they do , it's not beyond the realms of possibility as to why we can't establish ourselves as one of the surprise packages in the division.

My mind was boggling as I read that, but then I realised that Donny Red and DonnyTyke are different people. Agree with every word of the above, except that I actually thought we played really well in the first 5 - 10 minutes until they got a foothold in the game.

Yes I did a double take until I had the same realisation. Should have spotted it straight away due to the fact it was a reasoned response :)

Top level trolling. Almost had me - but lost it at the last second with that Stephen Dawson comment.

Whilst DonnyTyke is overly harsh on Moncur, I can understand his reluctance to heap praise on our victory.

Moncur ran around alot. He didn't show much finesse on the ball and his set pieces were awful.

But as is seldom seen down the Well, Moncur and others applied the type of finishes that we see more often from the opposition.

The scoreline was better than we usually get in games like that.

I too cant wait to see McGeehan but hopefully at the expense of one of those two. Saturday was Potts' best game (not exactly a huge achievement given his previous performances) but I'd hardly say he was outstanding. He made a couple of runs, which I'd expect from the midfielder who's been given the license to get forward and help the lone striker. Moncur, took his goal well although I'd be questioning the keeper if I was a Sunderland fan. Other than that, bystander once again. Without Williams that midfield would be totally overrun.

Moncurs set pieces aren't even sunday league level also.

The last time I spoke to you about player judgement was after the Leeds game last season at elland road. Angus hadn't been here long but you was adamant he was a confrance player at best and no where near championship standard.... look how that panned out.
As for moncur Saturday from the off him hammill, ugbo all pressed their men as soon as they were in possession Sunderland had plenty of the ball but we have them very few options to move the ball forward and forced them sideways and backwards. Moncurs work rate was great as were many others and he took his goal really well...

I don't remember this but I'd say it wasn't far off. Possibly lower League 1 level maybe but he is very overrated.

I don't think we forced them anywhere, they did that all by themselves. Lets not forget they had Lee Cattermole in midfield, a guy that hasn't played a forward pass since 2011.

I must have watched a different game to you mate. Admittedly Sunderland aren't the best side you will see at oakwell this season. But alot of that was down to our hard pressing game and giving them no options going forward and for me it was pleasing that we broke a team like that down. Back end of last season some terrible teams came and were there for the taking and we couldn't capitalise, Wigan, Preston, cardiff to name a few.
