Been slagged off left right and centre on their Twitter page, accusing him of being a really bad player. Some of the stuff said is really harsh, worth taking a look at if you have spare time. I for one am looking forward to seeing him play and think we've made a decent signing there. Villa fans up to last week were slagging off Conor before he scored his hat trick, so anything they say needs to be taken with a pinch of salt... They once reckoned Agbonlahor was going to be England's record goal scorer!
Twitter is a place for people to slag off other people. It's only use. I'd read their message board or something. At least you might get something that mildly resembles a debate.

Seems like the big question is around fitness/injury, but purely looking at his experience he's played 33 Premier League games and never played below Championship level, which makes him way more experienced then anyone we've had for a while on loan apart from Matty James and he didn't turn out to be a bad signing!

The lad is 25 years old and signed for Villa as a 15 year old. His career has not been easy as he has had his fair share of injuries. He has played for Villa in the Premiership and the Championship 33 times scoring one goal and he has had 62 games on loan scoring 9 goals at Coventry, Wednesday, Brighton and Forest. He has represented England at U17, 19, 20 and 21 level scoring 3 goals in 15 appearances. He has survived the scrutiny of four different Managers re- Tim Sherwood, Remi Garde, Roberto De Matteo and Steve Bruce who if they didn't rate him, would have surely moved him on.? Hecky must also think he can add something otherwise he wouldn't have brought him in.? In 2016 he was offered a new and improved contract that expires in 2019 , presumably because Villa value him at around the £2-£3 million mark and didn't want him to leave on a free. To kick start his career, he's now very sensibly agreed to another loan, but this time he's joining a Club who are coached by one of the brightest young Managers in the game, who due to financial constraints cannot wave a cheque book around and has instead had to take young players and patiently mentor and mould them into effective League One/ Championship performers. Last season a lad who couldn't get near his Clubs first team came to us and was a stand out player , who after returning to his parent Club is now probably one of the first names on their team sheet. I refer of course to Matty James. So let's make Gary G welcome from day one and let him know we are pleased he's at the Club, in the hope that under the tutelage of Jamie and Heckie like Matty before him , he is able to resurrect his career at Barnsley FC. Who knows, if he fits in and plays well for us, if given the opportunity he might want to join us on a permanent Contract instead of playing for fans who quite clearly don't respect him and don't sound as though they want him at their Club.

If i've learned one thing from supporting Barnsley, its that you really can't trust other peoples' opinions on players. A lot of our first team have been knocked down, released, slagged off and overlooked their whole careers.
