One momentos up peel street decent Italian food served on a veranda if outside dining is appropriate,if not nice interior.
The best place in town is called The Secret Italian. Do home made lunches & take out available. Dinner reservations booked up for the next 8 months apparently. Just off Racecommon Road.
Would love to go there but can't get in. The Polish place on Eastgate (Passion Food) us also top notch. I love Pasha but not sure if it's open lunchtimes.
Love nocchis me . Straight after match bottle of white and some proper rustic Italian like bruchetta or tomatoes on toast
Can I get all 'know it 'all and 'arsey' and point out that Bruschetta i(brushed)is simply toasted bread which whilst hot is rubbed with garlic and then drizzled with oil and sprinkled with sea salt. If it is bruschetta topped with things it is called Crostini! Personally ,I hate crostini with raw diced tomato put on top. Far better when it has been part sun dried . My favourite is Crostini with anchovy and cheese like Piccante Provolone melted over the top. or artichoke. Dirt cheap as part of an anti pasti here in restaurants as the bread is the real stuff which if not eaten quickly goes stale within a few hours of baking so they toast it for briuchetta or put thing son top so as not to waste it. It is regarded as a sin to waste bread here due to the fact that post war poverty was rife and people had little to eat.
Anchovies my good God keep 'em . It's like oysters they tell us they are wonderful charge us a fortune when in reality it's just tastes like a gob full of sea watter.
Tell him to get isen into market ,theres abart 8 cafes and sum of them home made pies r art of this world.Cheap cheerful and friendly wi art any trimmings.
Upthecolliers has asked me to say: "Tell 'im not ter be such a poof and tekk his snap tin and a flask o'teeah ter work. Idle git!"
The working classes are allowed nice things Marc. Culture is not just for the middle class Penistone resident you know.
Nowhere that great. Barnsley not the best for restaurants. Lemon Tree does a decent chicken shish but do you want that at lunchtime, more a post-pub food.
