I asked one of the Swindon FM mods last week hows it going so far under Lancy boy Flicker, and his reply was.. "There is a one word answer Acido, Barnpot. Or is that 2 words ?." Sounds like Flicks is settling in very nicely in his own usual manner.
After failing at Bury with a massive budget for that level I am surprised he got another job. All bluff but tactically clueless.
He worked his a*rse off for us in that first season I agree, and he achieved a minor miracle in keeping us up in 12-13. It cant have been easy either knowing he was only 3rd or 4th choice after messrs Butcher & O'Dismal had already given us the middle finger. But he seriously lost the plot later on that year and I agreed with his sacking when it came.
I enjoyed his great escape season really enjoyable 2nd half of the season. But once the chest pumping ran out he was clueless. Nice bloke though
Flicker will be alright at that level. All about effort and work rate rather than tactics and prima's. I expect Swindon to be at top end of that league, not just because they've got a decent side together but also because he's there.
He is a nice bloke and a genuine one, yes I agree with all that and thats why it was sad to see how he lost the plot with us straight after the escape act. But lost it he did, and we were going down for definite so the club took action. Whether we should have given Micky Mellon the job for the season or not, thats another argument altogether of course. I noticed Flicker did well to begin with at Bury and he even brought Jacob Mellis there when things were going well lol, but once again it all turned to dust in the end like it seems to do under him. I will be shocked if he & Swindon dont make the Lg two play offs at least this season.
Abusing like steele and bobby hassell for a start.called them (and Matt Murray I think) 'the god squad' Forcing out one of the league's best keepers and replacing him with a 41 year old purely because he was personal friends with him. Ordering the removal of the club's history from the stadium He was a bit of a ***** in my opinion and an extremely poor manager who got lucky when he was forced to adopt Keith hills planned 5-3-2 formation. We gained enough points during that period that when he had to change it and had no backup plan we had done enough for safety.
Dont sit on the fence Supers, tell us what you really think about Flicker. Ohh well you learn summat new everyday, I wouldnt have thought that about him.
