After tonight's game and the wonderful response to the Patrick Cryne column in the programme, we simply MUST get the flag on display at Wembley. The problem is, I can't go. Well, I could, but it would involve getting a divorce as I'm booked on holiday from next Monday with my wife. The girl who helps me with the flag needs a lift there and back, and help with the flag before and after the game. It's heavy and fiddly to set up. I'll pay all expenses including fuel, snap and drinks (within reason hee hee), but you'll have to get your own tickets. She's working at school until 14:30 and will need to get back in time for school next morning. If anyone can help please PM. Cheers all.
Cheers, she's made other enquiries so we'll wait 24 hours and see what happens. It's a young lady who will be travelling alone so there are obvious issues that she needs to feel OK with. We simply HAVE to get the flag on a photo at the home of football.
An email is on the way. Apparently flags up to 2.5m (max dimension) are allowed without any notice. Ours is 9m by 6m so we'll have to see what they say. It will be a disgrace if they turn it down, given the circumstances.
well if they do try to refuse it, we should name and shame them from the highest of high places. The venue will not be full so it will have plenty of space. Hope you are successful with this too. I too am away on a holiday so hope to see some photo's of it if possible
Will update on here when we know what's happening. The main issue is to sort out a lift for Lucy the flag girl. She can't travel on her own with the flag which is heavy and needs at least 2 people to carry. I'm on holiday (******) which I can't get out of. ****** ****** ******.
just a thought Stahlrost.... what about one of the official coaches.... plenty of load bearers and she would not be unaccompanied too.
I will not volunteer for this. I will not volunteer for this. I'm one of those people who always feels obliged to do things when no-one else steps forward but I really don't fancy such a long trip on a school night and especially not being the one driving it.
The entire thing is a big ask, I know that. I would normally be the driver but I'm on holiday. Normally I take care to avoid JPT finals, play-off finals etc when booking holidays, but I messed up this time, I thought all Oakwell South games were in the second half of the season. Gutted!
If people are not wanting to give lifts out to someone they don't know, could someone else possibly take the flag and set it up? We may get someone willing to pick it up and take it.
I think it's nearly sorted but I think that's a good idea. Will know more over the weekend. We're still waiting for a response from Spurs and/or Oakwell South stadium to confirm they will allow it in. They're both aware of the flag meaning and the sad news about Patrick. Will put updates on here when we know more.
Why is there no picture of it anywhere on google its like it dont exist just like preedy. Except preedy had an excuse
