well a stout, it's called Cherry Head and it's of course a Cherry stout. Pleasantly surprised by this and it's going down a treat. Good job I got just the 1 bottle to try as I'm saving myself for post-match drinks in Tarn tomorrow:
Edit: On further research shows that it's Marston's brewery and is 4.5% Volume.

A word to the wise. I can thoroughly recommend the Barn Owl.

There's a hint of cherry in there and a slight redness to the colour.

Lidl have one called Green Gecko IPA which used to be very decent, and was definitely brewed by Marstons. However, last time I was over the bottle shape had changed and looked suspiciously like either Greene King or Shepherd Neame. Tasted like it too, as had gone from pretty nice to totally rancid.

If you haven't tried it before I'd recommend stout with a coffee or liquorice flavour to it.

Love a coffee stout or porter. Have been drinking ABC Flat White - breakfast porter. Very tasty

Does that have a bacon and egg aftertaste?!

Coffee stout shouldn't work but it does.

One of our craft breweries here did two versions of an otherwise identical stout, one with coconut milk and the other with condensed milk. Both of them were absolutely blinding. I used the condensed milk version to wash down a home-made bread and butter pudding. A proper food-gasm.

Bet you didn't eat for a week after. Did the coconut one have a coconut taste to it?

Or I had a fried egg sarnie as soon as I woke up...... :)

Yep, it very much had a coconut taste. A few breweries have tried it here but haven't really pulled it off - beers which taste of Malibu, or sunscreen have often been the outcome. But the good one was absolutely blinding. Chocolate / coffee with a touch of cream / coconut milk, and the alcohol carrying it all through nicely.I'm not generally a stout drinker, but milk and sweet stouts really do it for me.

Tried the cherry head one, it is pretty nice. Lidl do a porter in a purple bottle and was surprised at how good it was. Only 1.25 for a 500ml bottle too.
