Of course we've still got fryers, yiadom and cavare to come into contention.

None of our defenders have covered themselves in glory tonight. McCarthy has probably been the best of a bad bunch

The midfield has looked poor also... Created nothing... the final ball has been poor

Pearson is clearly not a left back and I've critisised him before but he's got better game after game . He'll be alright that lad .

Plays a good ball forward. For me has been forced to cover that position due to absence of Fryers & Yiadom.
He's done very well IMO, but I know full back is not his preferred position, it is holding midfield.

Lads stepped up from L2 and looked comfortable against some quality wingers.

Finished article? No where near. But if he improves as much as he has in the first few weeks then he'll be a cracking player.

He's not a natural left back. By any means. No matter how many games he's played there. McCarty is better bombing on. But lets his man get away from him repeatedly. Pearson doesn't get forward very well yet but is far more 'solid' defensively. He also has Barnes or Hedges ahead of him - neither does enough defensive work to help him out like Hammill does with McCarthy.

All these boys are learning. New club, new team mates, new ways of playing, new level of opponent.

I think Yiadom will improve us. But that is absolutely no slating of Matty Pearson. Yiadom also took a few months to get up to speed... then became one of the best full backs in this league.

I'd like to see how he does in that position with Gardner and Potts in front of him. It may make us harder to beat. Williams has done well also but I think the team that started tonight in about 6 weeks time will have at least 7 changes to the starting 11. Cavare Mcdonald Yiadom or fryers Gardner mcgheehan isgrove and Thiam all starting. Davies lyndsay hammill and Potts remain.

Hopefully a few of these will work out. We certainly have a lot of options we just need tp find out who is good enough.

You know it is possibly blue to comment that x player had a poor game without writing them off

I'm not going to slate him, but I will say that he is often far too narrow and it's very noticeable whenever the opposition switch play to his side.

Does that go for Davies and Jackson too, who between them gave away all 3 goals?
