It was great. Would have loved them to have done a lap of honour (I can understand why they didn't) Completely agree about the tunnel if there is a way we could come out the West Stand tunnel we should.
The big thing to remember is that many of our legends will be working in football either as coaches or pundits, makes it hard to get lots of them there on a Saturday game
Glavin, Aylott, Hendrie, Redfearn, S.Davis, De Zeeuw, Shipperley, O'Connell, Taggart, Banks and Watson were all invited but couldn't attend for varying reasons. They're just off the top of my head. Mick Tarmey and John Dennis were here also, plus wives and kids etc. We have plans moving forward to celebrate our icons. But at the same time, for me at least, I'd love us to now focus on what lies ahead. Lovely to reminisce and remember the past etc, but let's make more memories. As Flicker would say.
It would be lovely to see a full list of people that were invited to Saturday's event but couldn't attend for one reason or another.
Glad to hear that Les was contacted. I'd guess that he wouldn't really like the fuss but will have been chuffed to have been asked anyway.
You did a cracking job Andy. My mate was well chuffed with his scarf too. £130 on eBay if anyone is interested.
Haha. Worth a fortune in years to come. Only 130 available. I'm proud of the small number of staff that came together to pull it all off. Think it went well. But we were bound to lose. ''Tis ever thus.
Great photo this, anyone care to name them all? Bobster looking like he could put the kit back on tomorrow
Aylott, Dobbin, Glavin, Beresford, Watson, De Zeeuw, Currie, Barrowclough, Banks, Evans, McCarthy, O'Connell, Shipperley, Fjortoft, Wilkinson, Bullock, Eaden, Redfearn, Jones, B.Howard, P.Howard, Lea, Baker, Danny Wilson, S.Davis, Liddell, Hendrie, Chambers, Joyce, Agnew, Gray, Ritchie. Eric was there all afternoon but couldn't make it onto the pitch as he felt badly. We couldn't get hold of quite a few, notably Davey, Marcelle, Bosancic, Vaz Te, Tiler, Wylde, Biggins and Rammell. We invited Noble-Lazarus because he's still the youngest ever player, but sadly he ruptured ankle ligaments last week and had surgery so wasn't well enough to make it. We invited Preece but he pulled out due to TalkSport commitments. We even looked into the chance of having O'Brien, Roberts, Stones and Butterfield if they weren't playing that day, all would have liked to. The majority were either working for a club, working in the media or away on holiday/at weddings etc. Nobody said "no, don't want to come." However, maybe a few didn't fancy it, dunno. We decided that had loads and loads attended, we'd have announced them in fives and started at 5pm.
Les Lea was meeting a friend at game and didn't want to let his friend down. Eric Winstanley was also at ground but didn't come onto pitch
You're still just a **** rib noodles. By the way yesterday's programme was the best Barnsley home programme in living memory. And I mean that without any sarcasm at all.
I think it's some sort of record breaker. We're all proud of it. Should have advertised the price though......
You actually should have because it is useful just to know in advance when something is different. Liked the groundsman interview and glad he discussed the water issue. Also liked reading all the former players interviews and Patrick's as well. Much better statement from him than Tuesdays for obvious reasons. Also really pleased with the recent introduction of our appearance and goal data and the days other fixtures. Not sure if others appreciate that kind of thing but I do. Is this year's programme printed on better quality paper or is that just in my head?
