Yes. Unforgiveable. Any player who makes a mistake should be sold immediately. You must have been chomping at the bit for us to get beaten recently.
I would be surprised if anyone connected with this board earns more in a year than they earn in a week.
At a rough guess, I would think you would not get much change out of £200 k per week for all three added together, thats just short of a million pounds per calender month for 3 players ! Please someone tell me how we compete with that
From what my brother in law whose Midlands based tells me from what he's seen in the Birmingham Mail, Whelan is on a reported £10k per week. Gary Gardner is on £20k per week, next comes Conor Hourihane on £30k per week. James Chester earns £40k per week. Terry had some very lucrative offers to play in China or the MSL in the States. He apparently made certain demands to sign for Villa. Firstly he wanted the number 26 shirt which he had at Chelsea. Adomah who had that shirt agreed to let him have it. He also asked if when he finished playing, Villa would give him a Coaching role which has also been agreed. He's made no secret of the fact that one day, he wants to manage Chelsea. He's the Villas highest paid player. With bonuses and enhancements he's on a reported £75k per week, which is in front of Gaby Agbonlahar and Mica Richards who can't get in the side at the moment, but are both paid £55k each per week. On wages like that, there's no wonder the pressure is on Bruce to get them promoted.!
That must surely represent a significant wage drop for Whelan, a player who was been a Premier League and RoI mainstay for several years on the bounce. If Villa have got him for £10k per week then that's incredible business, irrespective what they're paying for others.
It would appear on those figures that I have over estimated, however on those figures alone, the three players I mentioned total over half a million per month & the other figures you quote makes you realise what a massive wage bill Villa have on players alone & then of course, you have all the management & coaching staff plus the club staff, immense. One thing that does suprise me , is Whelans wage, having come as a experienced premier league player I would have thought he would command a lot more, at least on a par with Gary Gardner
Bargain at a collective £125 k per week for the three. ! We'd need circa a crowd of 11,000 for 23 games all paying £25 each just to pay Terry, Chester and Whelan alone.! We can't compete with that is the answer RCB at the moment, but who knows we might be able to in the future.! Personally I wouldn't want us to go down that road, just in case everything the new owners have planned doesn't work out, meaning if they pulled the plug with a load of debt to service, would put us back to where we were when Patrick Cryne saved us. Seeing the numbers that Villa are paying , just re-inforces what a tremendous job the Board, Hecky and the team have done on what is, compared to others, a "shoestring " budget.
I wouldn't say so. I don't think we'd have created as many chances with one less man in Midfield. We looked much more comfortable in the first half with 1 up front than we did with 2 against Forest. You could make the argument for Saturday too. It works against the right teams.
