Well, Just look at the blairite clones who've been foisted on the area since bliar..
Kinnock tried it in Hemsworth by bringing frank field in until the local party kicked off.
Most of the local m.p.'s are all southern blarites these days whod wanna vote for any of them??. Specially Jarvis and him whos just left Barnsley east for some big M.D. city job. Last decent local labour mp was Clapham ..
Labour need to wean out all the Right wing blairites.. Otherwise they're fkd

I don't necessarily agree with all women shortlists but there is every chance of selecting local women and socialist women at that. See Laura Piddock

No idea at the moment. Must say though the Tories seem to be making a bit of a hash of leaving the EU in an orderly fashion, then on the other hand you have Corbyn and co who have just shot themselves in the foot practically lying to students about clearing their student debt in the run up to the election. Then we have the lib dems, nothing to say about them, pretty pointless party...

Give me a good independent candidate anyday with their heart truly set around improving the lives of my Barnsley constituency.

I do reckon if we had an election again on the turn of the year, the tories would claw back an overall majority partly due to the student debt issue and Labours continuing failure to just agree with each other. Think either Corbyn needs to remove the blairites otherwise he will never get unity around his policies.

Can I just say, as a graduate with a huge debt and married to my husband with a slightly smaller student debt, Corbyn didn't do anything of the sort. He said, and I quote:

“There is a block of those that currently have a massive debt, and I’m looking at ways that we could reduce that, ameliorate that, lengthen the period of paying it off, or some other means of reducing that debt burden.”

He added: “I don’t have the simple answer for it at this stage – I don’t think anybody would expect me to, because this election was called unexpectedly; we had two weeks to prepare all of this. But I’m very well aware of that problem.

“And I don’t see why those that had the historical misfortune to be at university during the £9,000 period should be burdened excessively compared to those that went before or those that come after. I will deal with it.”

Not one bit of that made me think he would clear my debt. The papers picked up solely on the 'I will deal with it' and pretended that that meant he would clear it, despite him clearly listing some of the things he thought might be suitable solutions a few seconds before, of which clearing it wasn't one.

TBF JD He might not have but some of his mp's did, there's at least one of them on video explicitly saying just that and they were very ambiguous before the election only clarifying it afterwards.

Didn't apply to me on a personal basis, I'm just aware of the feeling among a lot of students that Labour have back tracked on this post election from what was said, maybe not Corbyn directly but defo was the noise coming out of the Labour camp in general.
Nearly as bad as the Lib Dems dropping the tuition fees once they entered government with the tories, they could have made this non negotiable, the tories would have had to accept it to be able to form a government otherwise the Libs could have toddled off to Labour to form another government.

Do you mean Imran Hussain? He said “every existing student will have all their debt wiped off”. That doesn't mean past students but people who are still studying. I agree that was wrong as it sounded like those still studying would have their first few years of debt cleared when he was in fact referring to this: http://press.labour.org.uk/post/160943491984/labour-will-lift-38-billion-debt-burden-from which was a Labour policy to write off the first year of debt for students who started this September to stop them from deferring their applications until after the election. Again though, media outlets ran with the story that he said all students, past and present, would have debt wiped. The slip up was bad enough without misreporting making it worse.

He was one, there were others buy I can't remember who but I just think they were very ambiguous and 'careful' with the truth during the campaign. That been said all the current lot are as bad as one another across the parties.Course thats just my opinion.
