there are a number of threads on a similar vein... Hecky "found out" ..".tactics all wrong"..."players not good enough" Blah Blah Blah 8 games in ..that's EIGHT games... new squad, just played Team 2nd in Championship (only on points) with multi million pound squad away from home pushing for promotion. From what I have read, the Reds pretty much matched them and the stats bear that out. It was stated at the season start there would be result like this. remember it is not long ago we were rock bottom near Christmas, and look what happened. I know football fans are a fickle lot and I know it is all about opinions but really, but some of you on here really take the biscuit. If they were getting 'tonked' every week fair but but losing by the odd goal against the one of the top sides happens. these are young players gaining experience in a tough league AND putting a shift in which is, as I recall what most people want. Turning on Hecky is just plain daft
That took a change in manager....just to be accurate like... Only two stats means anything...goals for and against. Very early days of course and I have faith in Hecky. Let's hope the new owners will do...
We are a poor side. We have sold all our good players and replaced them with less good ones ( who may in the future get better) the only hope is Hecky. If he keeps us up he should get manager of the decade.
agree with a lot of that, but there will come a time that the fans will turn on him, should this dismal run continue much longer. Its a results business sadly and that's what we are simply not getting. Hopefully the players that have been unavailable, for whatever reason, will come back and make that difference.
I would argue (in a friendly kind of way) that the good players sold have been replaced by better players. The players we sold were bought for relative peanuts where as the current crop has cost us a fair amount of money.Time alone will tell.
Better players when bought or sold? I'm not having that any single player bought in latest batch is anywhere near Hourihane when sold!
I never said that.In some not all cases but if you buy a player for 200k you would expect a player at 750k to potentially to be better.Like I say time will tell.
It's all relative. Asking prices gone up cos we are perceived to have pots of money now for a start.. Agree time will tell
No player we have signed is at the level of Houriane, Winnall, Mawson or Scowen when we signed them. Prices have gone up. We haven't upped our targets.
Difficult to say as we were in the division below. The team containing Hourihane and Winnall when they first came three years ago would be getting absolutely schooled every week if they'd been dropped straight into the Championship.
When these Hecky bashers take their coaching badges after playing professionally for years and then managing a side to two Wembley wins and a promotion in first year of management i will take notice. Until then i will take everything they say with a pinch of Himalayan rock salt.
At one time the team with all those good players you speak of were bottom if league one. I do think we will be in or around the bottom 3 this season still hopeful we will stay up Bolton seem terrible Sunderland looked awful and hopefully Burton will make up the bottom 3. But hecky needs to have a good luck at his tactics if he wants manager of the decade. And also seems strange we played near 1million for a striker and don't play him.
That was down to Joe Pasquale rather than the players as Hecky showed. If we stay up it will rank as one of the biggest achievements I've seen in my time watching. It's not impossible there's plenty of points to play for and plenty of room for improvement. Of the current team there are two players of good championship standard in Davies and Hammill (on his day). As for the rest some can develop but they have to do it very fast. The problem with signing a new team is that all the signings have to be good immediately. It'll be a long hard season.
His would you say this current squad compared to the hill one that looked relegation certs at Xmas and the flicker took ever and pumped his chest? Just out of curiosity. I'd also say we have one of the best full backs in the division in yiadom and McCarthy looks a championship player from what I've seen.
Fair enough on Yiadom if we play him again. McCarthy was average to poor again today but can improve. The squad has miles more potential than the Hill/Flicker one. Do we have any forward players as effective as COG or Jason Scotland probably not. Is Davies better than Luke Steele? I'm not sure. Do we have anyone with the quality of Martin Cranie again maybe not. So swings and roundabouts really. We have a far better manager and a good L1 squad with the potential to go a lot higher. Then we had poor managers and a good L1 squad with no potential to go higher.
