Today enthused me again..

Club rhetoric maybe, but I saw us match a very good side all over the park. Thought we edged them in terms of what we did with the ball, possession was pretty even, think we had more corners and similar amount of efforts etc. The only thing they've edged us on was goals. And that's the key part of football so we lost.

However, the referee has ignored an absolute stone wall penalty where Batth blatantly shoved Bradshaw over in the six yard box as he was set to score. Same player had already gone through the back of Barnes so in essence should have been sent off.

We didn't deserve to lose. They scored on the counter whilst we were well on top, it was a great strike but again, we failed to deal with a cross. Superb hit though.
We've dug out an equaliser thanks to Jackson who was solid as a rock. To then switch off straight away and get suckered like that at the end, it was heartbreaking.

Vast majority played well, but Jackson, Potts and Hammill were superb.

Saw much to be positive about. But we really need to start picking points up again. If we play as we've been doing in the next two games, we stand a good chance against opposition I consider weaker than Villa, Spurs and Wolves.

    Keep your chins up, Reds.

Agreed. We played well, but should have shut up shop at 1-1.

It was all going well until you said Potts was superb, opinion and all that so fully respect yours, mine however saw someone whose brain isn't quick enough to make a decision with the ball and do something decisive. Reminds me very much of Paul Digby.

We didn't deserve to lose but we're so ineffective up front that we never looked likely to win.

It's an opinions game my friend. I rate him highly. Doesn't make either of us right or wrong.

He's strong, doesn't give up possession, gets about the pitch, wins tackles, a threat going forward. In my opinion of course. But I'm aware that online he's getting a lot of stick. As does Jackson. Baffles me. But you're right and I'm right - opinions game!

A shame we didn't have a sub left after the equaliser. It can help run the clock down and take the sting out of the game.

We had chances again regardless. The shove on Bradshaw didn't help. But I agree in the main. Against the better opposition at this level we aren't threatening enough up front. Against the not so better opponents, we've fared well. Bradshaw has five goals for example.

The next two games will be the biggest indicator for me as to where we are at. Sad as it is to say, we aren't really competing with Villa or Wolves. We all knew how big a task this year was likely to be. I'm enthused with what I've seen generally.

I completely agree with you. Think potts gives us a bit more of a presence in midfield as hes so strong and can be really effective bursting forward. He is improving every game and has done really well to establish himself in the team coming from league 2. But i appreciate other peoples views on him and sometimes he does look alittle lost. I just think hes getting better and more consistent ever week.

We are looking a lot more organised than we were at the start of the season and i think the results will come as our young team continues to develop, gel and adapt to life in the championship.

We was 2 minutes away from getting a deserved point against one of top teams in league , team is still gelling and waiting for a few players to return into team too . Had we drawn today , it would have been classed as a great result

How many in the league? Is it two?

I've posted elsewhere that the situation remains as it did before we kicked a ball; we need to get enough players good enough, quickly enough to get enough points to stay up.

Time will tell if that will happen. At some point we may be able to play a more adventurous style as we might need to.

Potts is a strange on. Sometimes looks great, others miles off it. I don't rate Jackson.

Some players will work out, others won't. We brought 14 permanent players in and we'd be very lucky for 7 to work.

Ive been critical on here and on Tykesmad today/tonight, but I do admit first of all it sounded like we did more than match this so called top 3 Wolves team. And just one bit of slackness after we'd scored allowed them their winner, and who knows that 3 points today could go towards them going up to the Premship.
Maybe this is all down to us, and that we made them look poor because we were that good. Ok I go along with that idea but its still blatantly a 'draw' type formation to begin with isnt it, and Im wondering if Hecky would have made any subs at all today had the scores stayed at 0-0.
Now is that really good enough if we want to stay up again this season ?.

No. So I bow to your take on the game. I didn't specifically mention today's game, comments based on matches I have seen.

Don't know when I'll see a game again to be honest, life getting in the way.

Agreed. I was going to make my first ever post match view point, but the last minute defeat meant I can't be bothered. However, despite the result and the nature of it, lots to be positive about from a good, but unfortunate, team performance.

And bloody hell, that stand was high.

I don't want you to bow, mate. Was a genuine question. There's many on here who post in the aftermath of games and I just assume they were there, in attendance because their posts give off that impression.

Jackson was great today. I actually believe centre half is the very least of our worries. We are well stocked there in my opinion.

Isgrove, McGeehan, Thiam, Cavare, Gardner and Yiadom all yet to feature prominently. It's nowhere near as bleak as some would have us believe.

If we get nowt from the next two, I'll worry.

Well, not my intention for posts to look like that.

I hope Hecky gets it right. Like I said, the situation is the same as it was, we need enough players to be good enough quickly enough to get the points needed.

On a scale of 'Mansford' to 'Goebbels', I'd say it definitely reaches at least a 'Mandelson' :D

    And, yes, I was there!

Imho nobody could be described as 'superb' or 'great'. Our group of limited and/or inexperienced players were excellently set up by Hecky to counter a high-flying opponent and for over an hour, the set up allowed us to do so, eventually just falling short due to being not quite good enough at both ends of the pitch (nobody else's fault but our own), giving the ball away too often, not adapting to Wolves' substitutes and failing to close out a draw after we had given ourselves a lifeline at 1-1. For that we got what we deserved.

I would agree that Jackson had a decent game and Hammill continues to be our main threat going forward. Potts was a 'meh' or curate's egg at very best. I continue to see good in Lindsay and Hedges injected a bit of energy when he came on. The rest were all well sub-meh in terms of the level we are and need to be at, for mine.

Definitely a penalty when Bradshaw was manoeuvred off the ball but to say "he was sure to score" is, at best, optimistic. He already looked to be getting himself too far underneath the cross and given his finishing in critical league game situations thus far I'd say he was fouled "just as he was set to miss (again)".

As you say, it's all about opinions and coherent ones like yours are to be welcomed, even if I disagree.

This time last year I did leave Molyneux enthused, mightily enthused. After the events of the last year, I think today showed just how much the enthused has become defused!
